The Graypaul car has yellow stitching which in my eyes is at odds with the rest of the car. Also something which buyers may not be aware of is with the light colour i.e white & yellow stitching on the upper dash it reflects horribly in the windscreen - most distracting.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...

The Choice Vehicles car has red carpets which would be a no go for me & shouldn't be worth/valued at more money just because it Rosso Fuoco.
The De Stefano car is a nice spec, save for the standard electric seats which feel like you sit on rather than in the car in comparison to the sports seats.
Lovetts have had this one for a while, not keen on the wheels but reckon you could strike a deal c.£162k
http://www.dicklovett.co.uk/Dealers/Ferrari/Used-C...
The choice vehicle has been around for ages at several garages and started off at £165k.
I like the spec of it all bar the exterior colour which far from paying a premium for I would be taking off £15k. Would always be saying to myself its not Rosso Corsa and it doesn't really suit a 458 sports car. Maybe it goes well with a california or 599 but not on a 458 IMHO
Also in the pictures the leather seats seem particularly shinny which makes you wonder how its been prepared. Hate silicone spray everywhere

What did you think of that Graypaul car Ian ?
Still not sure if I should change the Cali to a 458 (loving the Cali btw)
I only saw it once at an FOC event Ferdi and not in flattering light. It was a dull, overcast day so the Fuoco paint looked rather more like Rosso Fiorano or even Rubino. It's a colour that really needs bright sunshine to look it's best.Still not sure if I should change the Cali to a 458 (loving the Cali btw)

Agree. Thats the problem in the UK, its always overcast and grey so the perlescent paint doesn't pop out like it would on the continent. You maybe lucky on a handful of days and see the true colour of the car which would be stunning. Shame really but on the wrong dark cloudy day its going to look like burgundyferdi p said:

Same boat for me. Cali ticks so many boxes (4 seats, folding hard-top...) that only going to a spider would really satisfy. But don't want to pay the £60k premium. But then again, I just can't help myself sometimes!Still not sure if I should change the Cali to a 458 (loving the Cali btw)

Jeepers thats one bargain and is sure to have a knock on effect to other cars. This has just had £25000 knocked off its asking price!!

Personally I think prices are being artificially held high with big margins in them to account for longer stocking periods and room to over allow on p/x's. It still all about supply and demand at the end of the day and I think the worst cases are 360 Challenge Stradale and F430 Scuderia where the Ferrari dealers are thinking of a number and adding £20k to it to see if anyone bites.
Was offered strong money on my f430 spider against a great F430 Scuderia but I could not justify the extra £50k to trade down a year on a higher mileage not as good condition car when the F430 spider gives 95% of the performance and the added open air motoring.
Its a crazy market out there at the minute but I'm sure a few bargains can be had especially if you are a cash buyer

So after taking a while to decide which car to get you settle on the 458. Then you spec it up with 40 grand's worth of options. Then you spend a year not driving it. Then you sell it at a 40 grand drop. This has just had £25000 knocked off its asking price!!

Ther's a lot of this I really really don't understand. Ill health story perhaps?

Really don't see the point. Most annoying this is what makes these cars so mileage sensitive.

I would have thought that if anything carpets could be very easily and cheaply changed for black ones by pretty much anybody? Or even just get them recoloured by a good trimmer? l
Colour needs to be seen in the flesh I agree...
Aside from asking retail money what's wrong with this one btw?

Love a spider but they wanted the Cali+145k !!!Too rich for me unfortunately

Sone,
Surely you are falling into this mileage trap yourself as you mentioned few posts back that of the 3 cars you listed you fancy the older lower mileage car to do Le Man in?
That car has the poorest spec so after you add 3-4000 miles it will have dropped value wise again. The pre 7 yr service category early cars with few options seem to be hard to price and sell.
Good luck, just wish mileage wasn't such an issue with these cars, I would drive it daily if didn't work away

Certainly looks expensive with that mileage on it. He must of liked his skiing and just think of all that salt and grit on the roads, makes you shudder to think[quote=TD]Sone,

Youre right mileage is a consideration when buying. I also like the idea of buying from the Ferrari network because I'd get 2 year warranty( a proper warranty). That particular car is as new and completely unmarked. While not over specced I think its priced accordingly, ofcourse it will lose money but proportionally not more more than any other I'd like to think.
The other thing is quite a few of these cars are on offer with independents who are not willing or able to take on expensive px's. I say this as I approached a couple of independents and in both cases I was offered Sor deals on my car while I'd rather just drop my old car off a pick the new one up. I do wonder if this is why some of them hang about for quite a while with some of the indes.
So no part ex facility and not able to offer competitive finance will make these cars hard to shift outside the network.
It will be interesting where the 458 finds its level and I think it'll be around the 120-130 mark over the next year or so.in the meantime I'll not think about that and try and enjoy whatever car I end up with!.
