15 months jail for Stuart Hall

Anybody else think that the mitigation line put forward by Hall's barrister Crispin Aylett that the former broadcaster had "all of 13" victims compared to Jimmy Savile's 1,300 was perhaps not the best defence?
Good job I wasn't a juror when he came out with that gem. I would have struggled to keep a straight face. Ffs, the dirty old b
d put his hand up a 9 year old girl's skirt, and his barrister tries to invoke sympathy? Perhaps he should have tried an abject, grovelling apology instead. ruz316 said:

It's neither regular nor prevalent enough to be considered 'endemic', much the same being true of gang rape and sale of young white girls in some asian communities.Endemic problem
Of course, we all know what you're trying to do (and it's pathetic).

I thought it was quite funny, but then I'm fairly limp-wristed too.Of course, we all know what you're trying to do (and it's pathetic).

Some of the replies have been surprisingly detailed and long.
Maybe there is history in some of them - but I've always taken them as being light-humoured.
Its not really the fault of "British justice" at this stage of the game is it? He's 82, the incident was 30 odd yrs ago or so, more or less jack all you can do now!
It shouldnt be an issuing of questioning or deriding British Justice, its just something that shouldnt happen in the mind of a normal adult. I simply dont get it. I mean teens I can get, there is no one-size-fits-all maturing policy with teenagers, the 14-18 range is simply hit and miss with 16 being a rough median point. Its a "best effort" job and society does its best to work around that but I can say quite easily I see teens every week who I wouldnt know if they were 14 or 18 and see blokes who apparently are in adult jobs but who look 13! We didnt coin "baby faced" for no reason. At 9 yrs old though, that is a very different story, its entirely different thought processes and none of them are intelligable in my head.

I understand he transferred ownership of his house to his wife in Feb this year (before he pleaded guilty), on health grounds. Compo lawyers are allegedly trying to get that transfer nullified. I expect Brenda might want her OBE back too.
So should his wife and dependents be financially ruined as a result?Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
