I had never heard of these until a friend had one on loan last year, I had a go and have honestly never ridden anything so bad!

Forget the electric side of things, as that was ok and removing the battery easily was a good idea, the suspension was unlike anything I have ever ridden. It was almost like there was something wrong with it, the front just seemed to pogo and didn't seem connect to the same chassis as the front. I was literally laughing to myself as I went down the road.

Not surprised they are struggling to sell them.

They're massively popular over here (NL), with 3 different companies in our area offering rent by the km/minute scooters. One uses Nui scooters, not sure what make the others are. The 25kph limited one don't need a helmet and can be ridden on the cycle paths, although some cities are stopping that now.

I think the Silence/Seat can do 68mph so more of a proper 125 equivalent. Not sure that would go down well on a cycle path. laugh Telling customers that if they rode it at high speed for 15-20 mins then the battery management system would put the scooter into restricted power mode probably didn't help their marketing that much either, though they are open about it being a low speed city bike.

Probably. Don't know about Seat but the Silence scooters are 2 yrs & 3 on the battery. I've never had any success with vehicle warranties personally. Seem to be a marketing tool.

I was very close to buying one a couple of months ago as my SH300 got nicked and they looked such good value for new or nearly new (I mean £2500 ish against £5500 list or whatever they are)
But lack of ABS was the thing that put me off, not trying to start a debate on ABS VS Non ABS though. hehe

I think for a lot of people it is just skirting the 'grey' area of legality. You can rent a scooter and be legal, but use a privately owned one and you are on the wrong side of the law. Using a chipped or illegal ebike is pretty much the same.

I see the laws on personal e-mobility as a stshow that needs sorting out, and if people are sensible I don't really care what they are doing.

The laws need to be sorted out and fairly and clearly enforced.

As is the case now the police appear to be reluctant to enforce the law. And the people who get away with it won't get any training or use PPE.
It's not a "Grey" area though, is it? It's quite clear they're illegal unless they're part of a Government scheme - which have the necessary licencing, insurance, homoglation (as far as lights and number plates are concerned).

There really should be no warnings with these things, they're an illegal motor vehicle and should be treated as such until/unless new legislation is brought in. I'd like to see those riding getting 6 points and whatever fine it is.

Had one when they first came out. Paid £4700 new from the local Seat retailer.

After a slew of issues including complete shutdown of the battery on my way into work one morning requiring recovery I came to an agreement with Seat to return it. That cost me more than them, but glad I did it now.

If it worked properly and I had confidence it was actually a fun little bike to ride. Room for 2 helmets under the seat and the battery is quite easy to remove and refit. The idea is good, the reality not quite so.

If it was reliable at £2.5k it would be a handy little runaround as it costs about 80p to charge for a real world range of 50-60 miles.

100%. I know a biker who always moans about the neds illegally riding unlicenced, untaxed & uninsured trail bikes around our way. He's also taken to riding a 48v 20Ah ebike capable of 50mph on his daily commute but doesn't see the irony. rolleyes

I suppose there's a reason why all those Catalonians prefer Honda SH125s. smile

Nissan are going to start selling the Silence S02 through their dealerships in Italy & France (The Seat Mo is a rebadged S02).

I'm sure they'll make a much better job of it than Seat ever made, although I can't see them having to flog them off for £2200! biglaugh

Is it a good deal for a dealer in Spain to bring a large van here & buy up stock for resale back home? Or maybe £2495 (inc.) is just dealers flogging them off at cost & shows that full retail price had a huge margin built in - coz, well, 'leccy innit, & greenies will pay over-the-odds to virtue signal???
Only if he was confident that he wasn't going to get stopped at Customs.
