It's a breach of your contract with your insurer, which offers them the chance to cause you ongoing pain.
Your £60 is big charge, but should be offset by some return of premium.
There will be next to zero return of premium, as it was part of a multi-car policy.

It's a good point that you all have made about the possiblt 3rd party claim costs.

I will cancel in the morning, as I just tried to do it online, but can't.

If you take a car off a multi car policy, I wouldn't put it past the insurer to want some of their "discount" back

Of course they will. If the discount is, say, 10% per car added then remove a car and the premium for the remaining cars goes up to the amount before the 10% was taken off for the extra car.

Why would they not if the other cars get more discount for the extra car?! Otherwise everyone would take out a multicar policy and cancel the extras on day 2…

I cancelled this afternoon, and will be getting £47 refunded. They could only refund back to 30/04, but will refund the rest after I've submitted proof that I sold the car on 22/03.

Sorry, OP for the thread hijack, but I'm pretty sure that your questions have been answered.
