Got an interesting one from last night. Sitting at a busy junction behind a police van who was the first in the Q. Lights went green no movement, lights stayed green no movement after I would say 12 sec I pressed the horn. Cop jumps out of the driving seat stomps back to me leans into my car and shouts in my face " I am having a bad day so you had better not make it any bloody worse". Then turned around got back in the van and did a U Turn at a no U Turn junction. Got the Chimp into first but then the Lights went red and left myself and the rest of Joe public for another cycle of colours. If I did that in practice in what I do I would never get away with it.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not a small bloke (hence my nickname and the need of a 5Liter to haul me around). It happens to be one of those moments that was very fast, was over just as quickly and that you end up re-living quite a few times with " I should have ,,," Only thing hurt is my pride and another incident that shows just how low police candidate selection, training and continued professional development has stooped. The few times I have been involved with the police has been when I was burgled, too young to be driving an Esprit and catching a young chappy from stealing my neighbors car. Every time they have proved that the barrel is mostly rotten. When I grew up they needed the help of Shaw Taylor, now they just need replacing. I have no grudge with yourself John as I have no prior knowledge of how you enact your vocation. My point in this string is that the police officers demand respect because of the position they hold. The general public however view them on the way they hold their position. I conclude as the reasonable party in this incident that he is a mere delinquent in a uniform ( this takes a few weeks) with a far lower IQ than myself ( unless his Ph.D. is science based like mine / Ted knows who I am ), and no real earning potential while driving a van for his pension, poor chap.
