Just a heads up for anyone head over from Tadcaster/York, with impeccable timing for half term, the delayed from Christmas work to replace the bridge on the A162 at Barkstone Ash is scheduled to take place next week, road closed 26th May to 3rd June.

For people affected coming fron the A64 to the North - take the left turn onto B1223 to Ulleskelf after you go past Grimston Park. Stay on Busk Lane into Church Fenton, left after you pass the runway onto Brackenhill Lane, first right onto Oxmoor LaneEdited by demic on Friday 24th May 07:23
Pops you out at Biggin, at the crossroads, just the other side of the entrance to the airfield. Misses the bridge, misses the awful roadworks near the industrial estate, some nice (narrow) twisty bits too.
Oh and, if you've got kids or you are an adult child, go see the crawler crane they are using to lift the bridge sections. Its MASSIVE!

Thanks for the update, I use that road once a month on business but next time will be late June. Our evening Lotus meeting is after the reopening too so no problem there.Edited by demic on Friday 24th May 07:23

Drove past it this morning and yes the crane is huge and rather impressive Pops you out at Biggin, at the crossroads, just the other side of the entrance to the airfield. Misses the bridge, misses the awful roadworks near the industrial estate, some nice (narrow) twisty bits too.

I can confirm it’s pretty impressive, we also drove past it this morning. Reminded me of my dear old dad, he drove the big cranes and piledrivers on the Humber Bridge project and several of the M62 bridge installations.Looking at the photo on here, the blue paintwork didn’t seem that bright from a fleeting look, maybe time for Specsavers!
