Devilbiss Pro / Pro lite.
Discussion
Hi
I'm trying to find out what the differences are between the two. Reason Iam asking is I have been out of the job for two years and am getting back into it on Monday.
I have always been fortunate because my previous employers have always supplied me with my guns. But this job I'm going to have to get my own. I used GTI pros in my last job and couldn't fault them.
Is there a significant price difference between the two and is it worth it ?
I once tried a Sata a colleague used but didn't like it.
Is there anything else worth considering ?

I have had a sata lacquer (top if the range) gun arrive this week , and on the very first time of being used was amazed how much better it laid down lacquer top coat.
can only imagine how good the results it will give once we are used to it.
In fact it laid down too good so there is hardly any orange peel on the flat surfaces, compared to the original factory paint.
and this is coming from Devilbiss GTI Pro guns , the sata is much better (comparing like for like ie air cap etc).
I decide to buy and try after ready constantly that sata are far better than "other" guns including Devilbiss (which i thought were very good) and i do believe it now.

Something to think about, it was over 5 years ago that I last used a Sata and from what I have been reading it seems a lot of people are using / recommend them. Do they get more paint onto the panel compared to a GTi ?
I will have to try and get hold of a couple to try out. And see what deal the paint rep can get me.
Wta did it cost if you don't mind me asking ? Or is it on a try and then buy if you like it.
Thanks

Yes the gun laid down the lacquer quicker and more flat and glassy (all slight but all helps).I will have to try and get hold of a couple to try out. And see what deal the paint rep can get me.

we noticed it used more lacquer then the GTI when used in the same method (speed , overlap , distance , pressure , settings) we now call it the v8 gun as it uses material fast and the devilbiss is a diesel.
We are using one visit low voc lacquer which means the sata is more suited for , but considering still got to settle in with gun (now used on 3 cars since first reply) its lighter , faster (but you need to more faster) lays paint down better i am happy.
we have just bought a proper dedicated devilbiss primer gun which is a joy after using cheap brand primer gun so devilbiss will still be used at KDS.
cost wise the sata came in at around £500 , which is twice what we paid for Devilbiss Gti guns .
BUY before you try lol , if only we could , and as for getting a rep in every time we have done this in the past for paint materials and equipment they have been as much help as a chocolate tea pot , i think most if not all are salesman and tell you what you want to here instead of real technical know how or problem solving.
The amount of questions i have asked in the past which they cant answer is just plain silly.

I'd echo that too, I'd guess maybe 25% of the reps are of the trade, the rest are just salesmen. Even if you do get an ex-painter/body man as a rep, once they've been out of the game for a year or two, they're so far behind current "working practices" that we end up explaining to them how their products actually work in the real world! The amount of questions i have asked in the past which they cant answer is just plain silly.

I got mine from Spraygunsdirect.co.uk as they are near me and I got a good deal on them as I was spending a few quid at the time.
