Not got aircon in the Sportsracer, if it is hot then roof off. Muttley used our S1 111s and the s/r daily to work. Slight drift here but yesterday we went to North Weald from Suffolk, beautiful hot day and loads of people in convertables with the roof up, why buy a convertable and keep the roof up? grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Im not talking about the summer, use my A/C when Im scraping the ice of the windscreen as takes ages using the blowers without it switched on,plus, the car seems to mist up when its cold and damp with heaters on with A/C switched off. Am I the only one who gets this slight prob?

I use the exige throughout the year and the only reason I turn the aircon on is to run it for a while at hot and then cold so I don't need it regassing, but have never needed it when it is hot, th window down has proved enough.

Depends purely on the person though.

Haven't read the epic number of replies to this but I have heard that it can add up to 3k on the price of an exige when selling. I would definitely go for it. I use mine once a week odd just to keep it running (we don't live in sunny spain ffs) and forget about it wink

If you don't use it it stops working putting it simply Chris _ so once a fortnight run at max at both ends of the scale to keep it working properly.

Circulates lubricant in the system, which keeps the seals lubricated and helps tham remain gas tight.

Thanks for that Grifter _ factual explanation as oppose to my feeble response.

Wasnt aware that the non HVAC cars had poor heating, but I can certainly vouch that the HVAC cars have very effective heating.

For the Elise the answer seems to be that Aircon is a good idea if you a/ need to drive in a suit b/ need to drive in summer with the top on (passenger and full luggage) . Otherwise, take the top off.

The extra weight argument is boll*cks. 20kg on a 900kg car is just 2% and if I can remember my mechanics would make maybe 1% difference to the 0 to 60 time. I'm sure you will notice that fall off in performance

just bought an elise s2, granted only had it a day but driven it in very warm sun and rain so far (you gotta love the uk) yes it does get a little warm inside, and the cold function on the heater just seems to bring in warm air but i can open a window or take the roof off, not had any misting so far but would imagine lowering the windows a little would fix it.
