My new C6

Thanks Doodles. I can stand and look at it all day. Everyone thinks I'm really sad to own such a huge and ridiculous car at the age of 28, but deep down they all wish they had the balls to be as cool (That's my assessment of the situation and I'm sticking with it, OK?!)

Thanks guys.. I think for £39,000 you would have to be a bit mental to buy one new, but used, they make a fantastic buy. You're right to say that it's the quirky bits from Citroens of old back again. Looking carefully at the car compared to others you can see bits of SM, CX, GS, DS...

Mr. Brightside, I remember reading one road test saying how it looks like a 'crashed spaceship' which I thought was quite good!

Seriously I just watched the Transporter 3 and I couldn't believe how ste it was. If he had a C6 I would have slammed mine into a ditch.

Nice to hear you are enjoying the C5. I had a good look at an estate in a lovely pearl white which was nice. It was actually better equipped than the C6, because they took so long developing the 6 by the time it came out things like the SatNav were a bit out of date.

I think a large part of why you normally see BMWs and Audis is the 'company car' culture in the UK. Personally I would have a car allowance instead and choose my own car but I guess most people who don't aren't really interested and just want something easy. Fair enough. But boring!

C6 Estate!!!

AH did the pictures not work! They are from the Citroen C6 forum; I'll put them up later on. Basically it's a C6 that some mentalist has stuck something like a portaloo on the back. I warn you that 'it cannot be unseen' as one user put it

Still loving the '6'. It puts a smile on my face every time I get in it.

I haven't had any problems, though the altenator was replaced under warranty as agreed a while back because it was producing a slight whirring sound and caused excessive wear on my altenator belt. That would have been quite steep to replace, but could have happened to anyone I guess. Citroen Slough were superb throughout. I'm lucky to be down the road from them as they are the best garage for the C6, some of the smaller dealers have never seen one. If I lived further away I would certainly see if my local dealer was a specialist with the tools for the job; the garage who did my service for example were not a C6 equipped garage and as a result I was referred to slough for the altenator job.

Now I have had the car a year I'm starting to enjoy it MORE, because I too was slightly worried by unreliability stories associated with the older cars. I myself had a Xantia which proved to be a bit of a lemon, but nothing I wouldn't put up with again for the benefit in comfort and the fact it was so cheap. I guess I have started to settle into ownersip more and I still get a thrill every time I approach the car in a car park. You would think I would be used to it but it still stands out a mile.

I'm afraid I can't see the pictures in the post two above, they are blocked at work, so I'll check them and respond later. However I will say that for such a big car I got used to it very quickly and with the excellent sensors (by far the best I have tried) it's easy to park, even in my tight garage where there are tolerances of less than 30cm through the door. The mirrors that look at the kerb are the best thing!

Had a new NSF wheel bearing the other week. Just wear. I'm on 66K now.
