What a great tip. I have a trackday coming up in November. Will most certainly be giving this a try!

I just did this on mine, took 5 minutes, no need to take the seats out. It's much better smile

Just did this on mine too; definitely more support, and it's not really noticeable that there's less padding for your back. It took me a good half an hour though, as those bd little metal clips are a PITA to get off if all you have at your disposal is a kitchen knife and a pair of long nosed pliers!

ETA: didn't have to take my seat out either btw.

Now done on my car too. And as above, no need to remove seats. I only did the backrest mind you.

Can anyone confirm the best practice for doing this on a MK2?

Take the seat out.. Undo all the clips holding the cover on and start hacking away at the base foam. We can't do the back one on ours, or atleast I didn't try as it seemed pretty difficult.

The bottom one I just started cutting away at the foam until I got rid of enough (And was bored) then put it all back together.

Did this on the weekend on my NBfl.
For half an hour work, the seating comfort/difference is well worth it.

Also removed Charcoal cannister and baby teeth, all in all 4-5 kg lighter and no problems with performance.
