Tudor Pelagos 39

Haven't seen the 39mm Pelagos in the flesh but it will be very similar to the new Ranger in size. I have Tudors (incl 42mm Pelagos) and always a little annoyed at thickness. Bought the Ranger on the spot due to the way it felt on wrist. I think the 39mm Pelagos is going to be a good seller for Tudor.

Tried it on today. Obvious already sold and any further done via allocation to existing customers
However... From a few minutes with it. It's very nicely made and no doubt will be very popular.
However for me, it felt too small and insubstantial (smaller size coupled with the titanium I suppose). I know it's probably the 'right' size for my wrist but it didn't wow me and the bezel was also a fair bit shinier than I expected and I found it felt a bit too 'we've made that modern sub you wanted' which is of course a good thing for some but not for me, I like the Pelagos for being different.
It's very nice but it just didn't work for me.
In this size I prefer my Seiko SPB, so logically asked them to get me a 42mm LHD Pelagos instead which if they can find, I'll buy as this has made my mind up. The LHD is probably my favourite watch of recent times and if it's going to be my first expensive watch, then it makes sense to get the one I've wanted since its release. Even if they did the 39mm in the mock patina it wouldn't make up for the size imho.

I have the original ETA Pelagos and tried on the 39 a few weeks ago. Some brief observations.
The clasp is now titanium instead of SS. Given the smaller size of the watch overall this makes it feel too light in hand.
The new dial and bezel is brushed and reflective. Again, I think this cheapens the watch.
I've had heavier and more attractive watches out of China. Given how solid the rest of the Tudor line up is, and I have two Tudor, I was really disappointed with this in the flesh.

Go for a pre-ceramic no date sub. 14060M some nice hardly worn examples around. I reckon they might drop as low as £5-6k again if you wait or put an offer in. Gazzab said:

If they were talking about making a LHD in this size it'd be interesting. Having said that despite wrists probably too shy for the watch the standard Pelagos is just about ok for me IMO. Not sure about the finish on the case of the 39.

They look good, but I’m disappointed Tudor used a mix of steel and titanium. A steel caseback (the cheapskate solution to galling, usually seen at Steinhart’s price point) negates some of titanium’s benefits for the wearer. And at this price, I’d expect grade 5 titanium, not the cheaper grade 2 stuff.
