Tudor Pelagos 39
Discussion
I tried one on and certainly interested, but I found the dial / glass seem to look too small. I have a BB58, 2020 Ranger and with the glass / dial / bezel combination they were better I think. I'm still interested, but my AD and myself struggled to see how it'd fit into the existing collection. My Omega Seamaster 2531.80.00 we both thought looks better.
Staying on the list now as I'm first / second on the list.

Now the dust is settling, do we have any Pelagos 39 owners on here? Specifically those that may have the original watch at some point.
When this was launched I was in two minds about it. Great size and a good looking watch but probably lost a bit of the tool watch appeal of the original.
I already have a BB58 and that’s been my go to watch for some time. Yes it’s a different watch but would I really feel a great difference between the two.
I’ve been allocated one of the first batches in the UAE if I want one but having recently picked up a GMT Master 2, I’m really debating if this is even worth it.
Thoughts welcome if it’s a belter or just a bit meh!

I enquired about the 39 2 days after release and have just been called to say it’s arrived in so going to collect later.
Previous owner of a Blackbay Harrods & BB58 blue but both never really did it for me.
This one should be a keeper though, I’ve tried it on already and really like it.

42mm original. Wasn't the LHD but I'm still very happy.
Loved the 39 but felt the size and lack of some of the more unique features kept me leaning towards the original.
Both lovely watches

I think I am leaning towards the same choice at the moment, although not seen a 39 in the wild yet.
Congratulations!
I just learned that this watch existed at all!
From what I've seen - online and in the showcase - I love it!
I have a BB58 925 silver for two years now, as well as a Seamaster 300 (the Brosnan-era James Bond one, have it for 20 years now).
The Black Bay has a taupe coloured face and has a rather vintage appearance. Also while the 39mm is ideal for my wrist, it sits rather high due to the glass bottom. It's a nice watch but not very versatile. Probably also due to the brown leather strap. I wear it not as often as I have anticipated.
On the other hand (no I don't double wrist ) the Seamaster has become a "classic" (aka old) watch by now. It's lovely, but very a '90s design with shiny and brushed stainless. While lovely, it's a watch I too don't wear that often. (since it was a gift I it's the one watch I will never sell)
But the Pelagos 39 hits all the right buttons for me! I love the brushed titanium case and bracelet (also I'm one of those who has half a link more in summer than in winter and a wrist that seems to grow during the day, a fine adjusment clasp would be lovely!). And a diver with a black watchface has always been an itch I want to scratch.
I'm smitten y how well this watch looks, a very finely balanced design that looks very contemporary, looks a lot like a vintage snowflake/submariner without actually being vintage. Also it comes in my favourite size and is thinner than the BB58 925.
Initially I was looking for a black no date 39mm Datejust (114300) as my "exit watch" but they only produced them from 2018-21 (iirc) and paying nearly 50% over list for a 3 year old second hand watch is a bit daft... The Pelagos 39 is half the price!
I really thinks this could become my exit watch!

Just tried in on in my local AD and I will buy one!
I trade in my BB58 in 925 Silver and my black Tudor BB 36. Both watches I rarely use. I wait for an offer by the AD (they have to ask the main store for final prices) but the Pelagos 39 they have is reserved for me
Cant wait to pick it up!

What’s a 925 worth as a trade in. I quite like them. I trade in my BB58 in 925 Silver and my black Tudor BB 36. Both watches I rarely use. I wait for an offer by the AD (they have to ask the main store for final prices) but the Pelagos 39 they have is reserved for me

I like the idea of a different material to the usual metals.
I don't know yet what they are offering me. My AD (Bucherer, now owned by Rolex) has a "pre owned program" where they currently have a pre owned 925 on sale for 10% under list (CHF 4k instead of 4.4k). I expect not much above 3k tbh, but if you opt for a voucher with them instead of cash payout, you get an additional 10%.
The 925 is a great material! I love how it patinas and the taupe dial is nice as well. Here is a photo from the day I picked it up:
However: I got tired of the retro-ness if it quite quickly. And although the leather strap (rubber lined) is nice, I somehow never found the perfect hole. Having a slim wrist also meant the strap is way too long, which ads unnecessary bulkiness. (take note from the apple watch Tudor and the rest of the industry!)
Also, while 39mm is the perfect size watch for me, the 925 rides quite high, due to the glass case back (a feature I personally don't really care for).
The silver is a rather soft material, despite the supposedly special 925 alloy by Tudor. I managed to get a small ding in the case, which I never managed on any SS watch before.
And somehow the whole concept of a (retro) dive watch with a soft silver case, leather bracelet and a taupe watch face doesn't add up, imho.
It looks like a sports watch, that is in fact an elegant evening watch. But for an elegant watch, it is way to hefty and not elegant enough because it looks like a retro diver. All in all, it didn't get near enough wrist time with me.
The Pelagos 39 on the other hand manages to just have some retro elements (like the red PELAGOS lettering), but overall is a contemporary interpretation of the original Snowflake Submariner.

Hope that you get near to that money. In the uk they sell privately for less than that. Between £2k and £2.4K from what I can see.
That is low indeed! Well, lets see what they offer me. Rolex has been known to buy watches to keep prices high (2008). Being the Rolex owned AD, let's see if they have an interest to keep prices with Rolexes cheaper sister brand stable. (probably wishful thinking ......)If they really lowball me, I just keep them or sell them privately. Most probably I will accept the offer tough, as watches I don't wear are no use to me and simply adding another 4.4k watch (CHF that is) is a bit frivolous. Let's see!

I'm surprised it's not trading for more if it is limited edition.
