Just got a call from the AD. They now tell me to not be interested in the BB 36 and for the BB 58 925 they are offering CHF 1.6k censored
Also the way he phoned me, with an annoyed undertone that I wasted their times, makes me looking for an other AD.

OK, i might have been way to optimistic and I know Tudor is not Rolex, but 1.6k for a watch they sell new for 4.4 is really taking the piss, imho.
I will probably just buy the Pelagos 39 from an other AD and deal with the other two Tudors next year.

I will report when I have bought one!

Ouch that’s quite a slap in the face. I assume they tend to operate to 100% mark ups but even so, that’s insulting.

I don’t think it’s taking the piss - it’s just the reality of the value of them. They’re not going to make much on the 925 at the price they have offered you.

They will make over 100% probably. A good return.

No way they're making 100% - they're just not that valuable.

They have offered just under half of what they sell for privately in the uk.
They have offered just over a third of what the same watch is being sold for by them.
Looks like 100% to me.

They don't go for 3k GBP in the UK . You can pick them comfortably under 2.5k and i've seen them barely make 2k. This is sold prices of course, not asking prices.

Yep they sell privately for just under twice what the dealer offered.
He was offered £1400 ish. Double that is £2800. They would try and sell it for more. They have a used one for £3600. So it’s clear they want a 100% markup minimum.

1450, which is half of 2900... either way they don't sell for 2800 in the UK, at least, not often.

I don't think it is taking the piss to offer around 1500 on a watch selling for 2-2.5k and seemingly falling.

It is interesting that Tudor seem to have suffered disproportionately against the overall falling market.

Dealer charge more than private. They sell for up to £2500 privately. Anyway I’ll leave this pointless debate.

I posted at the end of last year about me almost buying a Pelagos 39, but I din't because my AD offered me less than I expected on some old Tudors I wanted to trade in....

So I bought a new plexi Speedmaster at an other dealer instead and put my name down on the waiting list for a Pelagos 39 with them as well (different AD).
Apparently the waiting list was 4-6 months, but yesterday I got the call. biggrin

Look what the postman just brought me:

Pelagos 39 and it really is the watch I thought it would be (as far as I can tell with it on my wrist for 15 minutes).
I love the size and weight of it. Many seem to prefer a heavy watch for a solid impression, but I love the lightness of the Ti. Also I like that it is rather slim for a diver. Aesthetics are subjective, but to me this is the most beautiful dive watch ever cloud9

It looks modern but still very true to it’s origins, without being retro. To me, it is a perfect iteration of the original Submariner design and to my eyes better looking than the offerings from Rolex. I love the black rehaut, which looks such abetter design than the silver R O L E X one on the Submariners.
Also the quadratic lume blocks suit the snowflake hands (which are floating, black center) so well, much better than the BB58.

As for now, I think I have found my perfect diver cloud9

(CC from the other thread)

Here is it next to my 925 BB58:

I will now sell the 925 and probably also my BB 36 along with a 90's Omega Dynamic Chronometer (basically a Speedy reduced with a different face).
Pelagos 39, Speedmaster Pro and a white, mid-size Cartier Santos (to be bought) will probably be my perfect 3-watch setup and will cover all bases without "having a collection" smile (+ Brosnan Seamaster 300M I have been gifted 20+ years ago and a couple of fun watches)

Very nice, congrats! smile

What is the market doing in terms of the 925 now? I had forgotten it was 'on my list' until you reminded me laugh lol

Why sell it to a dealer for them to mark it up?
Recently sold my unloved Tudor GMT ‘pepsi’ on Ebay, using their free authenticator for both ways protection. 80% off fees week for me.
£2500, compared to Goldsmiths offer of £1300…

I really like that. I also like the FXD Alinghi Red Bull but the branding put me off.

Yeah the Red Bull ones are probably my favourites actually (especially the chrono) but unfortunately too big for me, and also I don't really like the straps. One day maybe they'll do a <40mm one with different strap options and I might bite!
