super yachts 60million+

One of my favourites has come on the market for the first time.

I assume the price will be into 9 figures.
Considering how well known she is, and apparently how popular a charter yacht she is, I'm always amazed that the global sales market for something like this is so large it needs to go on the open market. I guess there is a LOT of very rich people out there.

Get the Piggy banks back out (and Lawyers prepped) - PH Favorite Alfa Nero sale did not go through:

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has backed out of purchasing a superyacht that’s been abandoned in Antigua for over a year, after the sale became mired in lawsuits.
Schmidt withdrew his $67.6 million winning bid for the Alfa Nero several days ago, said Ronald Sanders, Antigua and Barbuda’s ambassador to the US
Not surprised in the slightest.https://gcaptain.com/ex-google-ceo-scraps-67-6-mil...

Buying such an item in these circumstances must be an absolute quagmire of f*ckery.

I was watching a recent episode of 'Below Deck' and saw a later model Feadship with similar 'eco' system. When the battery and generator were overloaded, it switched off the stabiliser system to save power, which cause them to rock savagely, smashing loads of items (the camera in the kitchen recorded some pretty scary sights of boiling stuff sloshing around). https://www.edmiston.com/40/savannah-yacht-for-sal...

Happened three times during the season. Huge design issue but I suspect not so hard to reprogram (turn off A/C instead for example).

Don’t watch the show but looking at the clip it would appear more likely that a black-out (loss of all electrical power) occurred. The stabilisers just happened to be the most noticeable and potentially hazardous (exciting for TV) loss whilst at anchor.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oqKjdG-vUU

What the engineer told the captain (we lost a generator and the standby didn’t come on load) was different to what the captain told the guests (some waffle about the hybrid system).
I don’t know that particular power management system’s functionality but all yachts/ships I’ve worked on have a ‘load shed’ function which when demand on the board is approaching capacity, will knock off non-essential consumers like laundry, galley, HVAC, domestic water heaters, Jacuzzi’s etc.
A standby generator (if available) should already have automatically started and be ready to share the load.
Any number of reasons for losing a generator and causing a black-out - mechanical, electrical, software, simple human error…
The Captain saying Hybrid makes it more silly - a hybrid with Battery in the middle of the bus bar is very unlikely in causing an issue - more saving, as the spinning reserve of power is immediately there.
For the cost, I’m not sure a hybrid would be effective in a super yacht anyway - unless sailing yacht and generation under way.

It has other advantages though, for example, quietly slipping away from an anchorage before starting main engines means no exhaust fumes hanging around the vessel until you have some speed up and they are being directed underwater.I can also see a lot of marinas becoming ULEZ zones in the future, so the hybrid power will be essential there.
Remember, hybrid boats are nothing new - subs have been powered that way for over 130 years.

Next to something bigger but ungainly.
We headed to Sarsala for first night and the but ugly chase boat ‘Sputnik’ is parked up…..
