Apols for Daily Heil link.

Wonkette ran the story and got this response from A Former Marine:

A Former Marine said:
He started yelling. A lot. “I GUARANTEE YOU!” he yelled, “IF THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF GIVES YOU A LAWFUL ORDER YOU FOLLOW THE MOTHERfkING LAWFUL ORDER. IF THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF WANTS AN UMBRELLA YOU BETTER BELIEVE A WHOLE fkING GRIP OF JARHEADS ARE GONNA BE HIGH-STEPPING TO BRING HIM A MOTHERfkING UMBRELLA!”

And then he warmed up. “IN FACT! THE REAL fkING SCANDAL IS THAT THE CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF WASN’T THE ONE HOLDING IT. ‘YOU! CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS! HOLD MY MOTHERfkING UMBRELLA!’”
Some of my American chums are former USMC, and this was pretty much their response, too. The fact that the person talking crap in this instance is an Air Force general has not escaped them.

Dunno if there's much discussion to be had here, but it tickled me, anyway.

Couldn't care less, but ""Shut your cockholster, you civilian sack of st." is my new favourite reply, I shall endeavour to use it as often as possible.

Symptomatic of how desperate Obama's opponents are. The description of "fruitcakes, swivel-eyed loons, and closet racists" would be apt.

Sadly Tony Blair removed treason from the final list of crimes that included the death penalty (along with arson at naval docks IIRC).

This cynical move co-incidentally immediately pre-dated the act of treason that involved Tony & Mandy going out and actively encouraging large scale immigration of guaranteed Nu Labour voters at the expense of their own traditional core electorate, never mind the rest of the country.

I dare say the 2 Marines were dreaming of shore leave and beer, rather than thinking if they should be holding a brolly for knob chops.

Not really true. The punishment was still in the statute but There was no way the death penalty could be enacted for those offences once it had been removed from the statute books for murder in 1965.

Not at all, he's the President, not King. He's perfectly capable of holding his own umbrella if he's dumb enough to conduct a press conference outside on a rainy day. Not like they don't get weather forecasts.

When the President asks for a brolly, you give him a brolly.

I'd have thought that getting the Queen wet would be treason...

He's also capable of living in his own house, driving his own car to work and flying Easyjet to NATO summits. However he gets certain "perks" of the job. And why a "King" would be entitled to any more deference I'm not sure. Personally I favour meritocracy over monarchy.
