Needs a bit of tarting up and 'de-versailles-ing' inside ngl - doesn't look like some rooms have seen any decorating since 2003. But you don't get that kind of lakefront on Windermere come up very often - even though I can't help feel £8mil is a little hopeful.
That has just shot straight into my top three of this thread for me.Needs a bit of tarting up and 'de-versailles-ing' inside ngl - doesn't look like some rooms have seen any decorating since 2003. Damn!

I mean I'm not in love with the external aesthetics, but you could do a lot with that. Plus the location really nails it for me.
I'm not convinced. I you really do spend all day on the lake, and thats your priority, then its wonderful but the location is kind of cornered, theres no real escape on foot and your straight out onto that hellish road which is bloody awful any time the suns out. I can imagine it being far more pleasant being a mile or so up into the hills.
In fact, I had a look on RM and this one on Coniston is a much nicer location, the house is far more sensible, and you'd have 3.5 million quid in your pocket too!

For £8 million I'd want decent weather and not to have to gut the interior and start again and maybe it's just me but I think we do tourism really badly in this country compared to other countries so I wouldn't want to live in a tourist hot spot in the UK.

I am usually a big fan of these modernist 'stahl' styled houses but this one somehow has a weird vibe. Its too big for the type of architecture, and the interior looks a bit like a Mclaren showroom. Style looks simple but is really tough to get right.Forest Road, Colgate, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 Offers in Excess of £4,000,000
Agreed. It’s just too big and too bland, I think.
It needs more ‘features’ an amazing staircase or something - I don’t know. The bedrooms on the floor plan while obviously functional just make me think ‘hotel’ - no individuality just functional rooms to sleep, shower and st in. Dull.
That said there’s clearly those that like period homes for their interesting quirks and different shapes and sizes and many prefer more modern stuff. Some people have zero care for curb appeal - lucky given most of our housing stock is pig ugly!

There are a load of places like that popping up on the riverside near me. Personally I think they’re hideous. McMansions that have zero architectural merit and have zero appeal.

The interiors make it - i'd want the furniture included in the price Forest Road, Colgate, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 Offers in Excess of £4,000,000
I don't think it's too big though, the 5 acre plot more than takes it. For me i just think these are the wrong type of properties for this country, and for that reason i'm out.
Not too big or flashy as others but I really like this, feels like a proper home

Stick a few BMWs in it and it would be perfect for a car showroom.

I don't know what it is with Scottish houses but they all seem to have dormer windows and/or be 1.5 storeys.https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/148124522#/...
Seems like the perfect way to make a house dark that will already be dark for six months of the year!
