Hi all,

I've been homeless for a while now and have been moving from shelter to shelter through the council for about two years, and have now been given a property/tenancy. I'm over the moon to be honest, and even doubly so as it appears to have a small garden. The only problem is, I don't know the area or boundaries of the garden. My housing officer gave me a gov. site and said i would find the boundaries there. I have typed in the property address and I can't see the boundaries of the garden. The address he gave me, takes you to a bunch of links that end up at the Scottish land registry service, but I still can't see the garden area, it's probably me being a dimwit. He also said, when you find the area and boundaries, can you take a picture and send it to me. That perplexed me I must admit, I would have thought the council had that information. Maybe I need to pay for this information?

I am particularly asking, as the area that I may have some access to, is covered in huge bushes (cherry laurel bushes) literally right up to the washing area, near twenty five foot high and larger across the horizontal. The surrounding gardens are clear. I would love to have the same as them, shed, small garden furniture or bench, but my area is totally overgrown.

I'll include some pictures, the pictures you'll see are the bushes, which he said would probably my area, and surrounding gardens. I'm probably being stupid here, but I can't find what site shows what belongs to what property.

Oh, I should add of course, my housing officer is off for the next few weeks, but my friend who has a landscape business has offered to clear some areas for me, I can't do that until I see what area belongs to the property, many thanks.

I haven't put the property address in, but am happy to give it out if that would help. I would appreciate any help if someone is familiar with this sort of thing.

Thank you.

What a legend! Thank you very much Hide.

My apologies, I had to send as email as I couldn't see the function to send as a private message.
It looks like I've screwed up the image loading too. Doh!

Thanks for that guys/gals

Particularly for your search on my behalf hide smile

I wondered if that area may be mine or at least have access to it HTE, but the person downstairs has commandeered the front and the side garden, and has actually gated it. It is what it is, I'll phone the council tomorrow, and hopefully even a small bit of the backs is mine, if not I'll get a chair. I really shouldn't have worked myself up into believing the back bit may be mine as downstairs had the front. At least i have somewhere to live now and a place i can call home.

Thanks again for all the replies, superstars!

As I say, the register website is quite flaky in this respect; some other flat listings in the same road say the upper flat gets a rectangular area at the back, so it's possible this is the case with you. Something like this in blue, but you'll hopefully get a more definitive statement from the council.

Okay, thanks for that HTE, very good of you! I'll contact the council tomorrow and relay the information I've read. I may even suggest I can clear out a small area myself for them, save them coming out...ahem. Hopefully the council guy then doesn't double check and I find that there's "no soup for you!" biglaugh

I still find it weird he asked me to send him a picture of the area that may be designated to the flat I've received. It may be as you say they are waiting on digitization and the old deeds? are warehoused.

I'll update the thread when I hear anything of interest, thanks again all smile

have you got a job?
Hi Acuity30,

No unfortunately, I now have to attend rheumatology, as I have severe degeneration in my spine and feet, looks like they've literally fallen to bits. The last Nuclie* scan I had has determined the degeneration is now in my elbows and hands too, dentist said it's my jaw too. I'll need to go back sooner, rather than later to rhumey as I'm now walking with a bad limp, it's definitely in my knees now. It could be worse, least I'm alive...biggrin

Apologies for late reply.

Do you need anything for the house and/or for gardening? A lawnmower and some basic tools?
Hi QuickQuack

That would be fantastic (as I'm sure I have some sort of allotted space after HTE reply) unfortunately I'm in Dundee, and though my brother has put money aside for me for a car, I don't have one at the moment, everything I've looked at has been questionable to say the least (I'm maybe being to picky) I really appreciate the offer though, thank you! beer

Hi all,

Sorry for late reply. My pals banded together and come and stripped the whole house for me over the last few days, then they took me to the pub. Honestly, there is nothing better for a man than to have a great group of brilliant pals (brothers too) who'll come together and be happy for you and show they really care. It's when you realise, that maybe you're a decent person after all and people care for you. I nearly welled up.. cry However, I pulled upon the last of my man card resources and managed to keep things in check, however, hardy hugs were given! biggrin

I'm very conscious of my new neighbor's downstairs, they are an elderly couple, and the floor boards are very creaky, a few of my friends are going to help me with that Monday. I really don't want to be a nuisance neighbor. I'm getting a living room and bedroom carpet fitted soon, so I'm going to try and get my hands on some underlay before then. The price of underlay is obscene! I'll maybe try an Ebay auction.

My brother has put aside some money for me for a car, I've seen a nissan note, think it's mark two, I checked the MOT history, small oil leak, corroded springs, but reading Pistonheads, they seem very reliable. I'm desperate for a car now due to some physical disabilities im having, so I'm going to call them tomorrow.

Lastly, I'd like to say, things were looking very bleak a few years ago, living in a car etc..and I nearly checked out a few times. Reading this thread and all the congratulations from you guys and the help you've offered really has restored my faith in humanity, nobody knows the plight of men like other men. So my my heartfelt thanks to all of you, it really is appreciated!!!love

Okay, okay...who's cutting onions biggrin

Edited to add:

Apologies to those who I never answered directly.

Speak to neighbor's..
Do not burn cherry laurel..
See if council will help regarding maintenance...

I'm on it!

Oh, council are phoning me next week regarding garden area, really really hoping for a result here, friend has even offered me a shed...Gawd!!

Do you have rheumatoid arthritis or osteo?

If rheumatoid arthritis ( I have it ) aim to get on an anti tnf costs £12k per annum to the nhs free to you so they are picky as to the rules but they are based on joint inflammation which you seem to have in buckets.

It is a literal miracle. It stops joint degradation in its tracks but can't reverse it.

I have been on it for 10 years. Weekly injection.
Hi Jeremy,

No not rheumatoid* or osteo* Just bone degeneration as far as I've been told. Started in my spine, after multiple doctor appointments, got x-rays, asked to come in to doctors and was told the largest vertebrae had crumbled and after a bunch of other hoops, i was sent to rheumatology and given some sort of nuclear scan.. They couldn't explain why it happened, but it had . It then hit me body wide. Was bedridden for months, more rheumatology about a year later, had went into another vertebrae, crumbled that too, had also done the same to my toes and bridges of feet. They said it was severe degeneration.

Things got a bit better, then it kicked off again (flare i think they call it) had to sign off of on another nuclie* scan as I had had to much or something, was determined it was in my neck lower spine, knee, both elbows and had started in my hands. Had multiple explanation's of what it could be from loads of hospitals and specialists, nobody could appear to agree on what had done or started it but it is what it is.

Thank you for your reply, I'm really glad that the treatment you had has helped you and stopped it in it's tracks. I love that you replied with miracle, as I know exactly what that means with these sort of diseases, literally life changing. All the best Jeremy!

Hi hidetheelephants,

Would you mind deleting the address this afternoon when the time is available.

Thank you again for the information you gave me. I walked the backs earlier this evening, and I think you are correct, the top flats do have a rectangular space allocated to them, this with the other information you gave me will be invaluable when speaking to the council next week.

Thanks again, have a great Sunday!
