Looking to replace my carpet in my bedroom with vinyl or laminate - removed the carpet and noticed there is a layer of insulation between the concrete (which can be easily removed)

Would it better to fit underlay then laminate so I can retain the sound deadening aspect between me and the apartment beneath ?

Most click-type flooring has an amount of backing (call it underlay) attached to it. Too much and you get that horrible floating effect.
Thank you smile

had a few problems with carpet beetles so don't fancy ever going back really!

only problem i'm having atm is the insulation that was underneath the carpet was glued down, ripping it up has caused lots of it to be stuck to the concrete with what appears to be very strong glue!
