I'd love to setup a tank/display sump for a peacock mantis...
How was it to keep Jas? I hear they've got a 'personality'?
Yes fairly easy. Just have to ensure stable SG. If in a sump then you would need to do water changes into the display not the sump to prevent a swing.. And a good burrow for them to hide when shedding etc.. They soon learn to recognise you and that you mean food.. So would come out, and gently take the food from the tongs too... I've kept a variety of mantis over the years, but the peacock was for obvious reasons the one most people were interested in.... How was it to keep Jas? I hear they've got a 'personality'?

Shy frogs was one of the considerations. I did was 4 or 5 frogs but the ones I wanted couldnt be kept in groups. Another type i like apparently are quite noise and hard to get hold of but amazing colours. i did look at the bumblebee ones and they look amazing and whilst can be kept in groups can be a bit shy. Mrs fell in love with tinctorius azureus (blue) Possibly can be kept in more than a pair once sexed but can be kept with morning geckos which is another option. Not shy at all which is the best bit. Local friendly shop showed us feeding time and when they see the tub they come and sit at the front of the viv
I have a Exo terra which ive heard springtails can escape but the habistat are supposed to be better and actually look better with one piece glass door. I may swap them out long term and use the exo for some whitesdumoy tree frogs for my office.
Springtails won’t escape so don’t worry about that - it’s just the fruit flies (or walks as they should be known). Considering they can’t fly or do much or anything they’re very capable of finding a glass of red wine miles away from where they start! The tinctorius will def not give you the invisibility problem. They’re about ten times the size of my mantellas for starters and usually make a fair bit of noise. So pretty too

Before we had kids we had leopard gecko, crested gecko, two tree frogs, axolotl and royal python - All at the same time!
Our leopard gecko died after 15 years, and we managed to re-home all our others to a school when the kids arrived. Pretty cool school to be fair taking them on.
Leopard gecko viv is in the loft ready for when the kids are old enough to enjoy keeping one.
Ill have to dig some pictures out.

We had some snakes a few years ago when the kids were in their teens. One was a regular corn snake, the next one was an albino. Guess who had to clean them out! The viv was in my son's bedroom and once one escaped and coiled itself up in the back of his amp. He didn't want to leave. Another time the albino escaped and disappeared under the floorboards in the bedroom! My daughter was asleep in there at the time. It took a bit of persuasion (and a dead mouse) to coax it out. I told my daughter about it a few years later.
I've currently got two corn snakes in separate tanks. It wasn't supposed to be the case. The first one escaped and disappeared a few months after I got it. After a few months of it not reappearing I got another one. 18 months after the first one escaped there were messages going around the neighbourhood about a lost corn snake. Somebodies cat had found it and was engaged in a staring contest with it. I thought it may have been mine so I took it in. It was the correct colour but it was about 3 times bigger than when I lost it. I assume it was mine that had survived the winter and had spent the last 18 months cruising around the neighbourhood.
They're now 5 feet and 3 feet long and had them about 7 years now.
I've all of a sudden got the urge to start an ant farm after some random YouTube videos popped up in my feed advertising habitats. Thing is I've already got a nest in my compost bin and there's usually a nest underneath my patio so they'll probably piss me off if they escape.

AntsCanada FTW! It’s a very funny channel and I must admit I’ve watched a few. He’s quite enthusiastic lol (but also has discovered all sorts of genuinely scientifically interesting stuff). I decided the same as you re ant farm - they’ll be interesting for a brief period and then escape lolThey're now 5 feet and 3 feet long and had them about 7 years now.

I used to have a corn snake who also escaped like a bugger. Luckily the cat was good at finding him and then making stupid noises but not going anywhere near him which was handy. He made it to 32 which is possibly a record
