High speed photography: the pellet is cut in two.

As the name implies, Air rifles have rifling. Therefore I don't buy this one.
I'm interested why you think the rifling is relevant? Shirley, once the pellet hits the razor blade it's rotation is stopped?

I buy it - you can actually see a small chunk of the pellet that's been taken off by the back part of the blade.

And no-one said rifle, the OP and thread title clearly say pistol...
Oops. I got it wrong, it is actually an air rifle. In the other photos that people have linked to he mentions that the pellet is travelling at 500 fps and that he uses a 1 micro second flash.

Lovely. Classic quote from a classic character from a classic film. (Er, maybe I overdid the classics in that remark.)

If its real its very impressive, much more so than the usual high speed photo's of a water balloon being pierced.
Why is it much more impressive?

Surely both are just a case of set up high speed camera----> pull trigger.
I'd have thought it would be slightly more difficult to hit the edge of a razor blade than it is to hit a balloon? Unless it was a really tiny balloon, obviously.
I have a vice a razor blade an air rifle and pellets, tempted to give it a go.. Hitting the blade would be very easy, no camera capable for a re-creation but a yellow pages behind would determine if the pellet does get sliced or the blade mashed. I think a regular razor, blade would get damaged, a stanley knife blade on the other hand I think the pellet would definately loose.
Go for it, man. And please keep us posted.

The chances of this hapening again are remote...
Thanks for your confidence in me MBH, (But please don't gush in public, it's so embarrassing) however I'm modest enough not to discount the possibility of making an error sometime in the future.
