Been biting my nails all my life but suddenly stopped 2/3 weeks ago, the funny thing is I didn't make any conscious effort to do so, just don't feel the urge to do so. Really strange.

Cool story bro' and all that.

Anybody else done the same, maybe with smoking?

This is something I’d like to stop this year.

I have been doing it my whole life and my nail beds are wrecked, but even a minor aesthetic improvement would be welcome.

I’ll start from today and see how I go!
Good luck...smile

Just a suggestion smile

But why doesn't everyone reading this thread that still bites their nails/skin makes a big effort to stop today, II promise you after four or five days you will actually be proud of yourself for breaking the habit, then shape them with a pair of small curved nail scissors.

I would be interested if you report back and let us know how you went on. biggrin

I don't think the Police would have any trouble finding you, leaving those fingerprints... hehe

I thought I was a fairly aggressive biter, until looking at that spoiler.

I am an absolute amateur, but I have done it for as long as I can remember.

Stopping was my NY resolution, but only lasted a month maybe.

Gonna also try and stop from today
Good man.

Anybody else willing to take up the challenge?

It could change your life...biggrin

I am now on day two. I keep finding my fingers in my mouth but so far have caught myself before any further damage was done.
Excellent. That's a good sign that you are serious. Nobody said it is going to be easy. I'm on week two and have absolutely no desire to bite them after doing so all my life.

I really can't understand it, but I'm actually feeling quite smug and pleased with myself.

Still no inclination to bite them after three weeks, time to give them a bit of a trim...feeling really pleased with myself.

Keep going everyone. biggrin

As the OP to this thread, been going six or seven weeks now, never felt the urge to bite them once, trimmed them a couple of times with nail clippers, hope everyone else is having success, keep us updated.

You have had to use nail clippers a couple of times??

I would have to sacrifice my fingertips to get clippers anywhere near my nails!
Not a problem, how do you trim them without biting them?

Use these:-

Unless you want to end up looking like this:-

I don't think so...

I am getting close to being able to get clippers to one of them i suppose!
So are you saying your nails don't grow even if you leave them alone and don't bite them? I'm confused.

Two months ago, mine looked like yours but now they look similar to this.

So had I, all my life, and then I just stopped.

Make a big effort, after a couple of weeks you'll be glad you did.

After biting my nails on Sunday and it getting infected I decided to get some of that stuff to put on them.

Day four so far. And only once bitten them. That was yesterday to try and get the infection out (was the skin around not the nail).

Considering I've had an assessment at work, I've been stressed beyond believe and in the process of buying my first house, im over the moon I've not bitten them!
Good man. Keep at it. it's worth it.

I failed today frown(

Managed two weeks. Last couple of days I've noticed that I've been playing with them a lot. Was almost annoying me being that long.

Woke up today and noticed my finger was bleeding. Didn't even notice i did it!

I'm well pissed off.
Don't worry,

It was never going to be easy.

Keep up the good work everyone.

If you weaken, resolve to try harder next time, nobody said it would be easy to break a lifetimes habit.
