There's a black 911 Turbo S parked up on the A3 in Clapham more often than not when I ride home in the evenings with the number plate PE05CHE.

It's a lovely car, but what the hell is the number plate supposed to be??? I imagine it's owned by some sort of inbred aristocrat with a name like S'bstyn - all the vowels carefully removed so that they can be redeployed in totally unexpected places, such as in the sentence "look at my Peosche".

Anyone else seen any particular duffers recently?

Really?

If you had to guess, what do think it's supposed to be?
A dyslexic's view of the word Porsche. I can't imagine why a non-dyslexic would want to put Peosche on their Porsche. It just looks stupid.

what makes you think its that? cuz thats certainly S9 SW???
Probably the fact that S9 SW wouldn't be a valid UK registration plate, whereas S9 SVV would be. The latter is also registered to a Freelander, by way of confirmation.

fkwittery - what a great word smile

I think you should forward that picture to the DVLA and hopefully they will revoke the plate to teach them a lesson
Looks as though someone might well have done - by removing it from the thread!grumpy

Would you like a drum roll to go with that?

Moving back to plates which are actually on the road, I saw a Range Rover this morning in Cheam with the number plate VPO 5H spaced to write "V POSH". Not surprisingly, it was being driven by a scraggy bottle blonde who was anything but.

Why is this crappy? It's just a personalised plate, no mis-spacing or dicking about.
Agreed
Have you read it out to yourself?

Have I missed something? I would assume that's a GT owned by someone called Jem? Where would the extra black screws go?

Its a GT86
Ah, many thanks. I did try zooming in to see what that squiggle on the back of the car was, but failed.

I see these everyday, sad i know but couldt afford a pair of Dan plates! There meant to read Tiesto, who was the best dj in the world when i got them
Given the apparently legendary status of the T16 engine in Pug circles, that left hand plate must surely confuse the hell out of Pug fans!

Other than that though, I'd have to agree with the other poster... If you're a DJ, why would you want personalised plates with the name of a better (by your own admission) DJ? This seems rather akin to Accrington Stanley's centre forward having plates which spell out Lionel Messi because it was cheaper than something which spelt out "Marcus Carver"?

Hahahaha, The STD one came later, cos it was 100quid as noone wants a STD plate!! Like to be different y'know!
Find someone who has dropped a T16 engine into a Pug and I reckon you'd be able to sell that for a decent profit, especially if they appreciate the ironic nature of a T16 being anything but STD in whatever they're driving.

Firstly, WRONG THREAD. that has not been modded in anyway at all. If some don't like subject matter of a perfectly spaced and legal numberplate then that is a personal taste issue for the individual to deal with.

Secondly, I seem to recall the advertising of that plate for circa £100k being met with hoots of derision from the baying crowd on the old thread. If it did in fact go for £80k then perhaps those wise men would like to sign in below for some humble pie? Hmm.. guess that'll be another for the Private Eye "things you never see" cartoonist then.. rolleyes
Wind your neck in poppet! I didn't start a thread about modified plates. I started a thread about crappy plates. As far as I'm concerned, if someone thinks a plate is st, it's welcome on here. Others are equally welcome to disagree as to whether it's a st plate or not.

How do you avoid the temptation to add "RE" in front of it with a marker pen?

Either there's some photoshopping going on somewhere, or the owner of ESS3X can't make his mind up on what car he wants! It's already appeared on this thread on a Merc and a Rangie, and according to the RAC it's currently on an Arnage!

Really nice plate but I guess the spacing means it has to go In this thread

No it doesn't!!!

I started the thread to ask about crap plates. I didn't ask the thread to ask about incorrectly spaced plates. Somewhere a few pages back, someone decided that all badly spaced plates are bad. I disagree. And it's my thread, so I'll take it home and not let anyone play with it!

DROGBA

As in Didier Drogba /spits
Although, as Ari says, there's every probability that was just a completely bog-standard plate issued in the normal way!
