It seems that the Emira is not the only British sportscar to be launched this week:

NA motor, small, only 850 kg and manual gearbox. A pity that no main stream manufacturer can or wants to offer something with similar specifications for that price.

40 k would buy you a classic.
Probably favourite car I’ve owned was a classic 911 (1972 hot rod). However those are closer to £100k and you can only drive them 6 months a year as they are very prone to rust.

I really like the look of it externally but the dashboard doesn't work at all; the switches, vents and dials are an ugly mis-match and the touch screen isn't needed at all.
Horses for courses. For a car I’m going to use everyday I do care about the interior - it should be comfortable, practical and preferably good quality. Conversely I’m less fussed how it drives and fuel efficiency, safety, reliability and cost are top concerns. For a fun weekend car it is all about how it drives. Really I only need a steering wheel (preferably no PAS), three pedals, a gearstick and the minimum of gauges. The only “extra” I think is really worth having is AC.

I like it in a 90's kind of way, but can see no reason to buy this over a G40 or used Elise/ Elan/ MR2/ MX5 & all the mods you'd ever want.
In terms of weight and power it is equivalent to an S1 Exige. MX5 only comparable if turbocharged or supercharged (or you go the Rocketeer route and use a V6).

For me it would depend how it drives. The ingredients are good but that doesn’t mean the end product will be. Will they have the time, money and ability to fine tune the suspension and ensure that everything works in unison? And keeps working? If I were in the UK it would be worth a visit and test drive to see what it is like in the flesh and on the road.

I think this car deserves a PH article. Compare with all the column inches for the nonsense that is the new TVR or an article on that ugly track only Lambo that costs £2m and has only found 10 buyers so far.

If I were in the UK I would be planning a visit for a test drive.

Unhelpful comment alert…. The wells doesn’t look good at all in my eyes, it looks like some odd generic kit car. I’m glad there’s still low volume manufacturing going on but they’ve missed a trick and up against tough competition, if you’re after a sporty little car £60k puts you in the boxster and cayman crosshairs. You’d have to be half mad.
Porsche sells more than 300,000 cars a year. Vertige sell 25. I am not sure they are operating in the same market.
