I posted a long post the other day with some questions but it was deleted for “being in the form of a Wiki.”

I’ll try again.

I’m thinking of selling my McLaren 650s and my Emira and getting a Portofino. I’ve two young children (aged six and four) and this seems a sensible time to get a 2+2 so we can all go out together, and a Portofino is also likely to be a bit “easier” to use for normal stuff than the current cars.

I’m going to be a bit picky on the spec; I don’t want a black car, only want black leather if the car is white, and very much want what I think were the optional seats which look a bit more funky.

Is there anything that I need to be aware of? I’m intending to buy from a Ferrari dealer, not an independent.

I’d really like one the same colour as my Lotus, but can’t see that happening.

Love the portofino and was seriously considering getting one before they launched the Roma but got that instead as not really a cabrio guy.

One thing I would query is getting 2 kids in the back for any real duration. Have you tried to see if the full family can fit in it with seats adjusted etc? From memory, it's not a genuine 2+2...
The children are still very little, so as long as they can be jammed in for shorter journeys it’ll still be OK.

I’ll make sure of it though before buying.

Well still have a Range Rover for the big trips and an electric Smart for the school run and shopping.

Seats are Daytona style
Thanks

It’s a strange thing to get hung-up on, but the other style of seats seem to look saggy at quite low mileage.

My 9 and 12 year old kids fit fine in my Portofino for short trips. I have to put the driver’s seat about an inch closer than my normal position so my daughter fits behind, then my older son fits in the back on the passenger side behind my wife. I wouldn’t do a 200 mile journey like that, but for days out close to home it’s fine. Ferrari put a lot of effort into slimming down and sculpting the backs of the front seats to give more rear legroom than in a California. It’s no worse than a 991/992 era 911 in the back.
Thanks, that’s very good to know.

Mine are six and four, so hopefully will be OK.

Azzuro California was the launch colour for the Ferrari California. I had one in that colour 2010-2012 and thought it was a lovely colour. I also worried it was a tad “hairdresser” but never got any criticism.
The question I’m pondering is whether the interior all being in a matching blue is too much.

For what it’s worth my azzurro California car had an all blue interior with Daytona seats with contrasting blue inserts. I didn’t spec it - I bought it as used car, 3 months old with 290 miles on it so had the chance to view it before I bought it.
OP, have you actually viewed the blue car or just seen photos?
Only photos so far.

One of the cars is three hours west of me, one is four hours North, so going to see both is quite the trip, and I want to be as sure as I can be that both are possibilities before heading off.

Thanks for everyone’s input. Just to finish off here, and as per my other thread I bought a late 2019 car in Azzini silver with a brown and black interior.

I’ve not seen it yet, but will be picking it up later this month in Newcastle.

It’s a lovely car and on my doorstep. Think it’s the one I had a good look round it when my 812 was in for service the other day. Think you’ll be very happy with it. I assume you’re dealing with Louis; he’s a great guy and a good small dealership eager to please.
The car’s in Leeds, but yes, dealing with Louis in Newcastle.

I got to show him the “Beehive run” on the test drive, the same road I’ve taken every car I’ve owned up and down for the last thirty years.

I now need to get rid of a car quickly to give me space to bring this new one home, and will still have the cheapest pair of cars among my neighbours in Town.
