i had no issue with my 570s mechnaical or electrically in just under 2 years, not many do its the most sorted Mclaren that went on the production line along with the 600lt upto the new line up, corrosion did appear but all covered under the 5 year warranty that you definitely wont be getting on a 12c or 650s.
Cool, but don't the sports series (540, 570) suffer more from corrosion? Due to the way the aluminium is formed. Whereas super series (650S, 12C and 675LT) are composite panels. Just in case your unaware ,,,,,,,,,
Super Series Cars (12c, 650, 675, 720)
The majority of panels on super series cars are composite, on these panels the issue is moisture inside the laminate structure which expands and bubbles up the paint, it can be repaired (digging out the issue, filling and painting) but Mclaren simply replace the panel and repaint.

Just ran some insurance numbers and the 650S is under £500 which I am impressed with; over £100 less than the 570S. OK small change in the scheme of things but it all helps.
I really appreciate the postings, especially for such an oft asked question but the succinct summary really helps.
Need to get into some cars now.

I am planning on jumping into a 650S at some point this year, and the insurance quotes I am getting are around the £900 to £1000 mark. I'm in my forties, low risk postcode, low risk job, 15+ years NCB, no claims, no convictions. Figured I'd be close to as low as it gets.

Under £500 for a 650 sounds like an absolute bargain. Insurance quotes do seem almost random sometimes.
I think my first 650 was around £800-900 when I bought it in 2019, but that crept up a bit over the years. The current 650 was ~£1,150 last year which seemed pretty reasonable to me (early 50s, not garaged, no tracker and a big fault claim in 2022).

I am older than you, 57, also with 15+ NCB, Herts postcode and 4000 miles with a £85k 2015 car used for the quote. Best quotes were with Admiral.I am planning on jumping into a 650S at some point this year, and the insurance quotes I am getting are around the £900 to £1000 mark. Interesting, I think insurance must have come down a little. I was getting almost £1000 last time I got a quote from Admiral, now it's dropped to £775.Biggest difference I can think of is that mine will be on a driveway rather than a garage, but even changing that it still comes to £700. Maybe Herts is a lower crime area than Berks.
(this is when someone comes along shocked and horrified that I would ever consider buying a McLaren without keeping it in a garage)

Not me, mine will be on a drive as well.Biggest difference I can think of is that mine will be on a driveway rather than a garage, but even changing that it still comes to £700. Maybe Herts is a lower crime area than Berks.

not a million miles from a 720s though now.
Just what I am starting to think. Would need another £40k though, still a jump.It was the dilemma I had early last year. I'd already had a 650 Spider, so 720 for not much more was tempting. But I really wanted another Spider - and I just couldn't justify (to me or the g/f) that a 720 Spider was worth almost 2 x 650 Spiders.
Looks a nice low mileage car on the face of it, i always think this dealer seems to ask top dollar for his cars generally..
