Word of advice for those wanting to go LPG, i'd steer clear of dated installations. Although im running an E36 328 on both LPG/Petrol, the dated Landi system is quite problematic and unreliable. Although the conversion itself was done to a high standard 5+ years ago, things have moved on alot and systems such as this are very clunky and have a few little "quirks". So it's not ideal, just ensure you go for a properly installed recent setup then ya should be fine.
Strange I had one on an XJ40, gave no trouble at all. One thing if it ran OK on petrol but not on gas them chances are the gas system is not at fault, normally its the ignition system asany degradation will show up on LPG way before petrol. The 'dated' systems have been around scicne the '60s retalivly unchanged, which would not be the case if they had any problems. The other thing tah has to be remebered the LPG system does need serviceing. My first conversion was fitted to an SII XJ6C in 1977 (By British Gas!), I bought the car in 1992 and recommisioned the system in 1994, this ran well for the 30K I had it when I sold it, it is still working now and is certainly not a 'modern system'. Mind you if thats the same engine that was in my E28 528i I am not surprised its not running well, mine was a pile of junk as well, the valve train was trublesome to say the least.
