This is the one. I'm surprised they've gone with using the Maxus branding over MG, guess it's to separate passenger and commercial brands in Europe. SAIC make a huge range of cars and they get badged differently in different markets.

Yeah it can’t just be me that thinks it’s daft having the “Maxus” brand stand alone. Even more so now they’re launching a car - the MIFA 9 people carrier thing.
It’s probably a tax thing and Maxus sort of sounds like a big strong spacious word for commercial vehicles. I always wondered why Ford didn’t sue them for their fake transits though.

Makes less sense on an EV people carrier.

That was one of the deals, central vehicle leasing.

There must still be some about got a call a moment ago saying they’ve got more stock (OSV), although a bit more now I think?
I meant for the hard top
Ah sorry, hard top was a third party (although looks like genuine parts), got a price from dealer for the hard top (canopy I think they call it), was £2333 + vat yikes

Used hard tops seem to go for £300/400 pound for other makes so I’m now looking into maybe converting another brand. From what I can see most have similar size load beds so hopefully won’t take too much fabrication to fit but that’s a little project for these winter nights!

You can get just a vinyl soft cover for £300, but I think you have to remove the roll bars that are on the rear bed in order to fit. And as I’ve just gone for the cheapest colour (white) the bars do break the colour up quite nicely, so I’m keen to keep them (unless I go full hard top of course).

Tow bar is showing as £195 + vat, and electric kit looks as tough it’s separate at £155 + vat. I’ve got the accessories brochure as a pdf if you want it? Just drop me a message if so.

Oh yes please, I’ll message you now!

Edit - seems your account doesn’t accept messages on here. If you could email it across to modern heroes cars at gmail dot com that’d be great!

Its from the old LDV (Leyland Daf Vans) brand; a joint LDV-Daewoo design. It wasn't a bad van.

They're unbelievably crap compared to anything else out there BUT it's £120/month for a brand new electric vehicle that comfortably fits 5 people.

You still have to put a key in the ignition FFS. laugh

All in all, 2 years and 20k miles for £175 a month (amortized).
Buttons. Literally.

Which lease dealer/operator would you recommend for one of these?

You’ve probably missed the boat, I know OSV were rushing to get them all done yesterday because they close from today until after the new year. Might be worth giving them a call this morning if you’re willing to sign up straight away though.

I was also wondering about the cheapest place to buy outright.

If these can be had @£20k + VAT I may well be interested in having 1 or 2

There were quite a few about for that price a week or so ago on Autotrader. Don’t seem to be many now, so I’m not sure if all the lease deals have caused a shortage?

80mph and 11.9 is what I’ve read?
That's actually not too bad I'd say?
Top speed might be a bit higher but 11.9s is better than what I'd expect from an entry level pick up truck, or am I behind on the times?
Driving around in LGV's I've never felt the urge to go much above 130km/h anyway biggrin.

Edit: Base spec Ford Ranger apparently does 11s

A bigger issue is the light payload and towing capacities. While an electric truck would make sense for the very short distances our D-Max travels on the farm, the payload capacity would often be exceeded (just a load of logs would do that, especially if they're being brought back for seasoning) and the towing capacity wouldn't be sufficient to drag two dozen ewes to the market. Plus venturing onto a muddy field with a trailer and only two wheel drive would probably result in a walk back to the yard to get a tractor.

Not too mention the Chinese factor. Ick.

confused Then why buy the D-Max you know it's produced in China?

It's definitely not a off-roader or haulage vehicle. It's just too compromised (battery is slung under the chassis).

Is UK DMAX Thailand or China? Surprising number of cars made in China, including BMW iX3.

Because otherwise, you'd have to get rid of it, obviously?
