LKA is irritating for sure. The vibrations are bad enough but it does occasionally want to actively take control.

On the flip side - it's a lot of car for the money. My mates 72 plate has been faultless. Build quality feels decent enough, and it's quieter than my Tesla that was twice the price.

It's a shame it doesn't have wireless CarPlay/AA, that would solve a lot of the UI complaints. I tried wired CarPlay and it would intermittently crap out and just stop working, but I have a feeling it is very sensitive to the type and length of cable you use.

Same issue on Kia. Wireless android dongle fixes that.

"R59 trophy infotainment software update is out now and available in the UK, along with the EVCC combo update, a BMS update and a BCM update. BCM update fixes the cruise issue where each button press equates to 1mph instead of 5mph.

R59 will give you the ability to disable LKA by a quick shortcut button on the pulldown menu."

That’s interesting. Just got back from my first service this morning. I specifically mentioned the intrusive LKA and the radio losing all volume. The Service Advisor advised me that they tried to resolve the issues but there are no software updates available for my car. They did though confirm there is no smoke or CO2 emissions from the engine so that’s a positive.

That’s really quite a poor efficiency for that sort of speed. Our Born has averaged 3.8 m/kWh over 13,800 miles of mainly motorway driving and the ID3 3.9 over 4,000 miles of again mainly motorway driving.

Sitting at 60/70 which is slower than I cruise, they’d be over 4m/kWh. The MG doesn’t look that bad aerodynamically, I wonder why it’s so poor?
I think it is pretty bad. I don't know the Cd figure but the rear end looks terrible from a drag perspective.

At a 75mph indicated cruise (likely no more than a true 70) I was getting 2.1 in an X-Power yesterday over 60 miles. 3.1 in the reverse direction at 65mph cruise with a noticeable tail wind (we need more wondsocks at the side of motorways).

It actually feels impressively inefficient but while that still costs me less than 4ppm I won't complain too hard.

The XPOWER version is currently on a very good business lease rate. Much cheaper even than the lower models, only
£8500+VAT total cost over 2 years and 10k miles p.a.. You can split that any way you want, but for example a 6+23 is £1770 down and £295pm (all figures excl VAT).

I was going to go ahead, !BUT! then I started reading all the MG forums where people tell of how poor the "safety" mechanisms have been coded in practice. The dangerous interference from the Lane Keep Assist, and Emergency Brake Assist etc, were just too much of a put off for me.
It's marginally better than the ID3 if that helps.

Atleast the MG4 slows down on bends rather than speeds up when it sees an errant number it thinks is the new speed limit.

Coming back from my parents last night. It gets upset if you cross a dashed line, no qualms at all if you cross a double white line though.

Rear end feels vague when you really push on, surprisingly loose at times, I assume not independent rear suspension? Haven't poked my head under.

The traction control is also pretty ham-fisted, understeer resulted in it grabbing the brakes way harder than necessary. I wasn't going any faster than I would in my Duster.

What does that even mean? (no offence)

is this an update that can only be applied by a dealer? Not something an owner can install OTA?

Yes sorry I don’t quite understand either. Don’t do Facebook. So are you saying R59 update now not valid and waiting on something else called R6X?

Sorry, some dealers are reluctant to just update the software but if you moan about Bluetooth they apparently normally cave.

I’ve just got off the phone with MG Customer Services. They couldn’t help and wouldn’t acknowledge any issues around phantom emergency braking and LKA trying to kill me or cyclists. I have sent a detailed email explaining my frustration and disbelief that there are no updates for my June 2023 car even though in systems on the car it suggests there are. This may sound extreme but it really is shocking and very intrusive/dramatic when either system kicks in.

My leasing company has asked me to take it to the dealer and give them a chance to fix these specific issues one more time. After this they will assist with rejecting the car. I have just spoken to the supplying dealer who couldn’t have been more helpful. They even confirmed that there have been numerous issues reported to them of all three issues my car is blighted with.
LKA, phantom braking (over sensitive system) and radio losing all volume.

Overall it’s a really great car but the “safety” systems mean I am never fully relaxed driving it.

Logic dictates that that should maintain cabin temp at 25 degrees, feels more like 20. Kids complained they were cold yesterday and I had to turn it up further.

It is well documented on the MG EV a forum that the temp displayed is several degrees above what it actually is. Quite interesting to me though as your screen is completely different to mine?

Is there a list of fixes? After just a month i have a fair list.
LKA - AKA Suicide button. Comes back on as soon as you open and close the drivers door too.
Radio random, doesn't hold station.
Using USB is a nightmare, trying to play an album isn't easy and when you get back in the car it won't display what is actually playing without digging through the menus. Won't work with bluetooth from phone.
Sometimes just refuses to move. Need to lock and reopen. Can takes ages to boot up.
Usual ghost braking
Auto dip seemingly random, lights occasionally go off when trying to force it to dip - even more scary than LKA. If you put it in manual mode you don't hear the chime to warn you they are left on as you can't turn it off before getting out, (assuming radio is working). And yes i should be able to remember to turn the lights off but haven't had a car without auto light for over 20 years and before that they had an audible warning which you could here when you switched it off.
No off button - how hard would it be to program the big button to power everything off if you held it 5 seconds?
Why can't you set a personal profile for the various settings? I know there is custom mode, but you can't change LKA etc in it and it won't default when you get in the car.
Doesn't always go back to Android Auto after camera has been on,
Screen too bright at night, even on dimmest setting, usually hang a cloth over it. Conversely a bit too dark in daytime for the camera screen.

Other non software oddities:
No auto wipers - or could this be done in software using front camera? Was very surprised at this, it's been a standard feature for many years.
No low washer fluid warning - again very odd, something pretty much every car has had for 40 years or more.
No lumbar adjust
Annoying white light from overhead console reflects in my glasses.
Claimed range is laughably high.
Terrible speakers

Hopefully the software issues will get sorted with updates.
