That said - weather was perfect.
My one layer tent and sleeping bag that are fine for LM left me freezing and slept in jeans, shirt sweatshirt and makeshift hat all 4 nights plus a clean dog blanket from car and my towel over sleeping bag! Had it been wet on the days and cold at night I might have gone home for Discovery sport.

My first time at Spa, stayed in Liege and drove to the circuit Saturday morning. Never seen traffic jams to come off the motorway like it in my life, they went on for miles. Stroke of luck that we missed the turn off for our colour parking and had to go 20K past the circuit before being able to turn round, coming from the other direction there was no queue at all which must have saved us over an hour. Did the pit walk which was worth it, good to see a lot of the drivers including Jenson at Jota. The stands being free was also great, sat in the start line stand for the first hour of the race and moved around the circuit checking out the different views all afternoon, was just too knackered and hot to walk the whole circuit.
Best view from a stand in the world of motorsport has got to be Raidillon, I couldn't believe the view or the climb up the hill to the stand.
Only downside for me was I had no idea what was going on at some points as there was no commentary updates in Engish and no Radio Le Mans to listen to but that is my fault for not learning French.

Roving grandstands pretty excellent in Euro 60 to 70 fee for three days.
Big newish stands Endurance (before stream/dip/fan zone) and Raidillon filled up pretty full but still a few good spaces 30 mins or so before start unless you were in a big group.
No stewards at all so usual bad behaviour of late comers or anyone with a camera who thinks they can stand at front and block views or partial views of first 10 to 15 rows. Endurance small seatback but most stands no seat backs - thin seat cushions quite popular with DTM fans there. Endurance stand is closer to the tiny big screen so can follow build up at start and race progress/incidents etc - probably best with small binoculars
Loads of space after 45 mins of race.
GS’s therefore better than LM!!!!!
Lots of natural banking (especially Kemmel straight) and good vantage points plus shade from forest areas next to track circuit paths.
Access to pretty much entire circuit with circular path (all except SW corner area - Campus and Paul Frere turn and run out). Track open for hour or so both Thursday and Friday if want to run it or walk parts).
Beer cheaper and better than LM and food traders a bit more diverse but still usual queues etc at race day.
Only found supermarkets at Spa 15 mins drive away from Francorchamps/La Source entrance area (getting there from other parts of track may be difficult unless out very early). Beware of Ascension Day (although Delhaize was only one open).
Can see why most people don’t stay Saturday night. Thursday noisiest & latest at campsite then Friday and Saturday pretty dead by 11pm.

Didn't realise how close I was to Malmedy on the modern road section there as the old cicuit route seems to be in the middle of the countryside.Where I was the VIP car entrance at La Source and the main access roundabout to Spa circuit car parks in the Eau Rouge stream dip had long queues mist mornings so Spa was easier.
Did do old track three times in the end (twice Sunday, one very early). It's a shame they are mssing with the newer (post war) banked Stavelot turn as they've squared off entrance and made it officially one way there (with signs for commercial access) - hopefully they won't block other end.

s off to a different date for 2025There was one crushing disappointment at the weekend, the sound of the Corvette is a crime against motorsport, I know it’s got quieter over the model changes, and the last GTE was pretty dull, but there’s going to be some upset people at Le Mans, the days of lying in your tent at night and counting counting them round are gone.
The Mustang, Lexus and Aston were all good though, the Porsche terrible
