Porsche Macan or Range Rover Sport

The RR Sport will be far bigger. I really like the new RR Sport although the Macan is nice. I generally have only seen women driving them as they seem a nice size for around town.
I think the Macan will hold its value better looking at the Audi SQ5s they seem to hold their value well as they are popular too.

Lol. They certainly do. My old man got a new Macan in December to replace a Cayenne. My first impressions on getting in was literally a wow. It is a glorious place to sit.
OP you don't say what engine type you are looking for, petrol or diesel ?
The two cars are actually quite different, I have a Macan Turbo as my daily and the widens FFRR and they provide a completely different experience. Will you use the car everyday ? Does it have to perform family duties ? Do you intend to drive it for fun or function ? Do you value comfort over feel ?
Re depreciation the Macan holds value incredibly well. The RRS will I suspect depreciate a little more but that said dealers are doing a better job of shaping the market and the mark 2 is light years ahead of the original both in quality and vale retention.

May well spend half the money on another Freelander2 as the most recent HSE LUXs are a step up from my 09 HSE, and although the RRS and Porsche are lovely, not sure they are twice the car, or that I need them.

We're considering a Range Rover Sport too but it just seems awfully wide. It'll be our car to go shopping in as well as cross country/continent travel and the missus seems a little nervous about parking the thing.
Need to drive an SQ5 also.

If you'd consider a Freelander as a possibility, why not a Discovery Sport? Test drove a Macan S recently. I do like the look and the interior. Test drive was too slow and with too much traffic so got no feel for the car and I never knew when to change gear as I couldn't hear the engine! Then they said a £43k car needed 15k of options to take it to a half decent spec. Still a GTS would hold its value pretty well and might differentiate one from people who do actually need to tow horses now and again 
But I was told a GTS test drive would likely prove impossible. I suppose I could view a YouTube video!
