He is one of the several subs that I watch everyweek or so, along with scimandan, Petrol ped and a few others...carwow for a laugh..

This week on Dobb;s he talked about buying at auctions and in particular Category X auctions. he had a link to Copart.....so I had a butchers. Bloody heck.

Has anyone bought from these guys? A £12k valued Outlander PHEV with 1 1/2 days to go at £2900.....a NIro EV at 1/2 price. No damage, stolen recovered etc.

Are my/your gonads brave enough to have a punt. Obvs no warranty etc etc...but............???

Lots of people are brave enough, yes. That's why Copart is a viable business. It's also, increasingly, what YouTube lives off.

The two to which you linked haven't yet met their reserve, so they might not be the huge bargains your starry eyes anticipate. smile
I know, as I wrote, an example

Pretty sure there are laws re selling and describing an item for sale by a registered company. I am NOT looking at anything bar cat X.

Of course the wife said can you please drive me and help pick some stuff up, hour tops.....which turned into 3 and yes I missed todays auctions on copart and especially the Kia Niro EV and Mit Outlander PHEV I wanted to watch...COZ Copart dont publish results....

I am still contemplating whether to sell my Forester XT which manages 30 mpg on a good day, for a PHEV/EV but I would lose bigtime on trade BUT if I got a bargain on Copart...Cat X only, not a fixer upper.....

I wouldn't buy a CAT X from copart or any such damaged vehicle auction. Why didn't the vendor punt it through WbAC or similar? Why didn't they punt it on eBay? The reason is it will have issues and they want the protection an auction such as Copart provides.

Stick to lightly damaged cat N insurance company write offs and save yourself a tonne of hassle. They usually have X on the windscreen sticker.
category X......you obvs ahavent a clue what it is! Why reply?
