Afternoon all.

Does anyone else seem to have this issue with their Taycan?

Mine seems to constantly mist up, clear it with the demister and within two minutes it's back again over all the glass, deffinately doesn't seem right and it seems like you'd need to contstantly drive around with the heaters on to keep it clear?

Thanks in advance.

Two most common causes are a) a/c on re-circulate b) a leak (check the carpets) but no knowledge of the Taycan. Wish I did smile

I also have a Taycan and like yours seems to constantly steam up, especially the windscreen. We are having to press the quick demist every 20min or so. I attribute this issue in part down to the fixed glass pano roof which has no screen. Its a bit of a nuisance but doesn't really bother me. In complete contrast i drove my 488 recently which never steamed up in similar damp murky conditions.

Is the A/C in ECO mode - which is the default setting - I change mine and stops misting up

Has the pano roof as well but litterally every 2 minutes it steams up which is uneceptable imo. I have tried with Aircon on and off (but only in eco mode) so as someone else has said will try this.

Oddly enough the urus it replaced had a pano roof with no issues as did a Lusso I had previously, again without issue.

probably a lot do do with the fact you have no engine heat coming off the front end

I'd suggest you leave the AC in its standard setting (not the ECO one) to achieve a balance as switching it continually to ECO will not help & to also precondition the interior if you're charging the car before travelling. Driving an EV is completely different to a ICE car & getting the balance on heating will be something that takes time & practice. If necessary post a thread in the EV section on PH as someone will have had a similar experience- also FB has an EV page & will offer help.

I think Porsche may have a bit of experience of cars without an engine in the front.

If you want clear windows, don't use the aircon in Eco. That's as good as turning it off.

I thought the whole point of driving a 2 ton wheeled battery was “eco” ?

I walked past one being charged today, quick chat with the owner who said he loved it part from the frequently foggy screen.

you would like to think so. A good mate owns a Tesla and regrets not speecing it with the winter pack and suffers with this issue.

EV vehicles will turn off the 'climate' at every opportunity.

Climate is temperature and dehumidifier, hence, when it is damp outside the car will steam up.

Simply set ECO to not turn off the climate, you may lose 10-20 miles per charge, but you wont steam up.

I’ve had an EV for years without any steaming up issues so it’s not a generic EV problem. Sounds like the a/c eco setting is the issue, though. If that’s on by default, that’s a bit odd particularly given that it’s heating that consumes a lot of power not cooling (in my experience at least).

The AC setting is likely the root cause; without conditioning the air will currently be heavy and damp. I ran a few range tests recently and found with AC off and driving on a streaming wet M4 in 6C temperature the cabin would steam up within 10- 15 minutes; quicker if I was on the phone. Switching AC on removed the issue completely.

Range was affected; by 5-7% at 70mph - handily this is calculated instantly, whereas IC engined cars on a run maintain a high theoretical range until you come off the motorway.
