Modified Ferrari 348
Discussion
Got some more bling delivered today.
Carbon look shields for the front wings. Not sure if I'll stick those on as it won't match the gold wheels.
Some Ferrari owners are telling me not to put the winglet on.
I'm going to Auto Italia tomorrow, so will be taping one of them on and pretending that they are permanent fixtures.

Finally got the gold wheels on the 348 and they stayed on for 4 days as I didn't like them as much as the silver ones.
Thought about keeping them on and adding a gold stripe, but it was just too blingy for me
So a few days later, it was back to the original wheels.
Also tinted the indicator/side light covers as well. 50/50 on whether I'll keep them like that.
I'm going to paint the gold wheels a light antharcite colour and see how they look on the car, but that won't be for a while as I'm not going to be doing much modding to it for the time being as I've just purchased a used Golf GTi for £5K with 95,000 miles on the clock.
The plan is to slowly mod it up so it has more power than the 348 (around 340bhp) as I think that would be kind of funny.
I've already got a set of Edition 30 BBS wheels for it and registered on the mk5golfgti forum for tips and ideas.

Picked up the 348 from HR Owen service yesterday. Yearly service and bits and pieces fixed.
Also asked them to stick on the carbon shields. I don't hate them, but don't particularly love them either. Will keep them on for a year and see how I feel afterwards.
Unfortunatly, soon after picking up the car, I had an encounter with a ramp which damaged the front splitter.
So now I have to find a local paintshop to paint the entire bumper and also to attach the 355 underfloor panels I purchased a while ago.

Great to see an update Angelis. Been a long time since I saw the thread.
Car is looking great. Still blighted by a bit of bad luck along the way though eh. If you didn't have bad luck you'd have no luck you.
I'm sure it's worth it though to own that car. How's the golf coming along then?

Mods to the Golf have been put on hold for the time being. We're filming a new motoring show so I have to spend ££££ on new equipment.
Although I may do something to it at the next service.

Car is epic, carbon shields look tragic, my opinion only. Your car and you are free to stick whatever you like to it but the close up looks like someone stuck a sticker on a Ferrari for a laugh. Great car though and I hope it continues to evolve.
The more I look at ithe shields, the less I like them. It makes the car look a little kit car'ish.I may end up taking them off when it goes to the paint shop in two weeks.
So back to the paintshop it went.
Ended up having the entire front end resprayed as it had picked up a lot of stone chips. Also the rear three quarter which is prone to cracking at the base.
Also had the wing shields removed as well. They really did look naff didn't they!!!
Unfortunatly, fitting the 355 under floor poanels woudl have meant butchering the existing 348 under floor panels as new fixing points were needed. So I decided not to go ahead with that.
Car now back and 99% working. Small problem with the central locking as it only locks via the key. Getting some of that cling film stuff stuck on at the front next week as well.
Pictures taken today.
Strangely, Ferrari prices seem to be going through the roof. The 355's have doubled in value whilst 308/328's have trebled. I purchased my 348 in 2005 for £35,000 and now it's probably worth around £55 to £60,000. It's also probably the only black RHD 348 GTB in the world so that also helps.
With the increase in value, comes insecurity when it comes to modding and the effect it has on values, so I've decideded not to do any modifications and to keep it looking standard.
I've even put it up for sale

Might seem like an odd question, but has this car ever spent any time in Crete. I used to live there about 10 years ago, and used to see something very similar on a regular basis.
Hi, very unilely. Think it spent a lot of time in Scotland though.utgjon said:
I keep re-reading this thread...
Any updates?
Well, I've just put it up for sale on Pistonheads.Any updates?

If it sells, I'll get a black 360 Spider that I have my eye on.
However if it doesn't sell, I may start modding the 348 again over winter as I've provisonally agreed to have a 355 gearbox installed.

Just took it off the market. I like it to much (plus I didn't get any offers!!! )http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...

Will be back to modding it. Hopefully major engine upgrades over winter and a custom rear wing/front splitter aero kit.
Looking at having a front splitter and rear wing on the car and found a company who can make them for me in carbon. A graphic designer on Facebook played with a pic of my 348.
My original idea is to have a wide flat splitter supported by two bars. The one in the pic is more subtle but more likely to smash into pieces in the first minute of driving it.
Winglets on the side would be interesting as would cannards on the side of the front bumpers.
The pic below also has a running board on the side bottom of teh car.
Rear wing is similar to a Gallardo SL. It's for show rather than performance.
Will probably end up sticking a stripe on it as well.
A few years ago I did consider a 355 challenge wing but it just looks too big.

Very nice, in my opinion it's still one of the best looking Ferrari's made. What mods you got planned.
Have ordered the Carbon rear grill and the Stradale gearchange ECU. Later will get a Capristo. The original plan was to turn it into a Challenge Stradale Spider, but the car is too good so will just do a few bits here and there.
The 348 has now be returned to its original spec and up for sale at Walkersport.

I'm really enjoying the 360 Spider and have decided not to do any modifications to it.
Thanks again to everyone for following this thread. Hopefully the new owner could carry on with.

So I've had the 360 for 3 years now and the modding itch is back.
Here is how it looked originally.
Modifications so far include:
Gruppe M carbon airbox.
19" 360 Challenge Stradale wheels
It's also had the 360CS gearbox ECU upgrade and a custom ECU upgrade by AV Engineering which is based on the 360CS but has more power. So it's in between a CS and 430.
Also a CS rear grille.
It's now currently at AV Engineering getting a split coolant hose replaced, but will return with a third party body kit attached that i got from a friend.

Angelis, always enjoyed reading your adventures tinkering with these cars. What’s the bodykit you’re fitting?
Thanks. It's a Hamann kit. Front splitter, side bits and rear diffuser.

Those intakes look luuuverly!
Wheels are a nice improvement too, stock 360 wheels are the worst Ferrari wheels of all time (IMO). I would say the stance of the 360’s wheels is pretty weak looking though, they always seem to sit quite far in board to my eye.
I agree, but the problem is that if you use spacers, it tends to upset the ride a little I've been told.
