My Seat Exeo 2.0 TDI Shed
Discussion
Nice work. I just got rid of mine as spares repairs after 10 years happy motoring. Steering rack went, couldn't get a gen item which is all my specialist would fit as couldn't have the rack out-off for refurb-refit taking up ramp space. Waited for 3 months on a rack off road so called it a day. Also parts were getting hard to find - wings, bumper, lights all obsolete but if you're running it as a shed it doesn't really matter.

Pull the front wings off and hack out the foam blocks that soak up water and rust the wings from the inside out. You can see the one on the driver's side is already having that effect.
Then duct tape the edges of the rusted out sections of arch to ready it for the next MOT.
Do you know if A4 B6s have those foam blocks too? Then duct tape the edges of the rusted out sections of arch to ready it for the next MOT.

Aye both sides literally have holes in, but it passed an MOT fairly recently with them so I'll just leave them. Anyone with a VAG car of that era knows only too well about those bd foam blocks and the problems they cause! Then duct tape the edges of the rusted out sections of arch to ready it for the next MOT.

Yeah hopefully it's got three years left in it, that's how long I anticipate keeping it. If it hasn't turned into a pile of rust by then! Hugo Stiglitz said:
I'm on the serious look out now and Exeos are rare. We'll <100k ones. People must run em and/or keep them.
I did, i had a 2013 sport tech 170 from 3k to 98k. It was a great car. Solid, well built and engineered. Sad I wasn't able to find someone to repair it but 10 years was a long time and time to start again also played a part.Edit to add in that 10 years, apart from annual servicing, a set of discs and pads up front at 91k and rear pads at 60k it needed nothing!
The POS needed a DPF so found one from Germany, got it delivered last month. Finally got an appointment at the garage to fit and they say it’s too small. Opened a claim on eBay, only for it to rejected. So I’m £350 deep with a DPF that I’ve no idea what it fits. Opened a claim with PayPal so we’ll see.
Don’t tell anyone but I got the DPF hollowed and remapped for £500 - I don’t have any lights on the dash now which is a positive!

Yes they did use the Cabrio dash in the Exeos (round vents instead of squared).
I've just picked up my replacement for my Exeo - A 2019 B9 A4 Avant (quattro and auto this time) but it drives suprisingly similar, perhaps the B9 being a little "lighter" feeling.
The Exeo's can take the mileage, I have no doubt mine would have done at least 200k had I been able to get the rack repaired. I did hit a massive pot hole before the rack went so can't blame the car.

That's reassuring - built well. I've just picked up my replacement for my Exeo - A 2019 B9 A4 Avant (quattro and auto this time) but it drives suprisingly similar, perhaps the B9 being a little "lighter" feeling.

Have you also removed the battery and cleaned out/removed the rubber grommets underneath? They are prone to blocking and water flows into the cabin soaking the comfort control module! It is possible to remove from reaching underneath the battery area above gearbox, that's how I did it but was quite awkward. The battery on the B9 platform has been moved to the boot and the top of the suspenion turrets are more inbound & also braced like BMWs as another piece of pointless knowledge to share.
You do still see a lot of B7 (&B6) era Audi A4s on the road so that Exeo should easily do you proud for 3 years. There were some in the faceache group with 300k+ on them.

I'm going to look at one of these this week as a winter car, is there anything specific to look out for? Or is it just general Audi/VW issues from that era? It's a 2010 on ~80k miles if that makes a difference.
In my experience (10 years, 100k) they are solid well built cars and nothing went wrong for me. Cambelt and waterpump due every 5 years and it would save you some money and hassle if it has been done recently. Listen for any knocks on suspension - they have the Audi multiarm set up where the pinch bolt can seize making the job less pleasureable. Engines are the common rail diesels where most issues with short trips / dpf etc had been ironed out however as the cars age you would expect to eventually change that filter. Clutch/DMF like any diesel can rattle requiring replacement.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
