Some changes completed, others arranged
The carbon dipped items are now fitted
Carbon plenum intake ordered
Replacement intake runners ordered that will be re-chromed
Booked in for a re-paint of bonnet and front bumper using the bodyshop I have used for a few years now - not a cheap job, items will be removed and fully stripped down
And finally, booked in for a new clutch, lightened flywheel and a Quaife diff
Mid-Summer should see me in possession of my perfect GTV

Looks brilliant - the perfect GTv!
How much was the carbon dip?
Thanks - I become OCD about my cars, also have an Atlantis Blue E36 328i Sport that is showroom fresh despite being a daily driverHow much was the carbon dip?
The carbon dipping was not expensive - have had the instrument surround, centre console, gearlever surround, ashtray cover, mirror switch surround, steering column shroud, interior mirror caps and a couple of other switch surrounds done for £220 - done by a company in Coventry

I think mine left me stranded in total four maybe five times, windows didn't seal, boot was a joke, eventually blew its gearbox costing a small fortune to replace.
I'd have another one tomorrow though if I could.
They definitely get under your skin, I'd had a previous V6 and it was plagued with electrical glitches, after getting everything sorted I sold it - four months later I'd bought another oneI'd have another one tomorrow though if I could.
The diff is a known weak point with gearbox casings being mashed not that uncommon, hence going down the route of a Quaife, Autolusso can replace the clutch, fit a GTA single mass flywheel and the Quaife for £1350 which I think is a ggreat deal

That car both looks, and sounds, fantastic.
Somebody mentioned bargain basement money earlier in the thread, but somehow, I don't think so!
They are certainly cheap to buy - to run one and run it properly - perhaps not so, then again the work I'm doing on mine is not strictly necessary - choosing to do it because getting a car as nice as possible is my main hobby, its made easier by having a wife who is more than happy to see money being spent on the carsSomebody mentioned bargain basement money earlier in the thread, but somehow, I don't think so!

Bit of an update.
Recently got car back from a bonnet and front bumper respray so today decided to do some little jobs
Fitted the carbon fibre airbox that I have had for a few weeks, spruced up some underbonnet components (front injector rail, top engine mount bracket, replaced expansion tank)
Treated paintwork to a layer of AB Abyss spray sealant, not the easiest to apply but pleased with the results

That would benefit so much from some decent tailored floor mats. Maybe in tan or blue. The grey ones currently are really letting the side down on an otherwise stunning car.
The mats are actually beige and I have a set of colour matched fully tailored ones in the boot that are used when the car is not being worked onGassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
