Guessing they used the cabrio interior purely as a differentiator?

If you're VAG and gonna go to the trouble of changing the lights/front end you might as well make the cabin ever so slightly different as well when you rebadge it
The way it was done was that SEAT approached Audi and bought the intire tooling, production line etc then re-engineered the car with as many good bits as possible. So I assume they saw the cabrio dash was nicer so thought why not because they had access to all of it.

Also I think I read somewhere that SEAT used some suspension parts from the A6 to improve the ride, handling etc so it was a bit more than just updating the face and splicing in the later CR engines that the B7 didn't get.

And any ideas what this is/means?

First thoughts were that it could be Turkish and Google came up with something to do with seven and pregnant if you messed about with the word endings....

HOWEVER! I think it is more likely to be Yiddish or Hebrew! Something about the beloved of the Lord being blessed.

They also re-profiled the rear seats to create more rear legroom, much needed in that platform, but even with the improvement it is still tight back there.

I heard about the A6 suspension but couldn't verify. To me it looked the same as a B7 A4 under there. They did change the suspension geometry and the dampers were not as stiff as the Sline Audi's though, perhaps that is the A6 element actually. They did make the tyres narrower than the A4, running 225 rather than 235s. Probably for fuel economy or emissions.

Aye makes sense, the lad I bought it from was Jewish who was selling it to go back to Israel for some sort of pilgrimage. I think it means...

MAY OUR BELOVED GOD BLESS THIS SHED

Front alloy is away being refurbished as the inner rim is allowing for a slow puncture, so I'm stuck with the spare for the time being. Adds to the patina, don't you think?

Just ticked over 135K, seven of which was by me on the Autogreens and I'm so lucky to be alive.

I spend a lot more time and effort keeping the inside clean versus the outside, that's for sure

My Exeo saloon had some random chinese tyres on it when I bought it and they were hilariously bad laugh

What's yours like on fuel? I'm getting 60mpg on a run from the 2.0CR TDI.

Averaging 51mpg which is over 375 miles a week, so not bad at all really

Have you checked the service history for the oil pump drive geing upgraded, they are a known weakness on this tdi 2.0. I had mine done on my b7 A4 avant.

Cheers,

Drew.

Hi Drew. I've not, I've not even heard about it (granted, I've not done much research on this engine). What is it I'm looking out for?

ETA - just done a bit of research there and I think I'll just take my chances

Is yours a CR engine or PD? If CR you've dodged a bullet. If PD, let me know the engine code. smile

This was what my oil drive hex key looked like at 90k miles. I kept it as a souvenir. The tech who replaced it reckoned it had another 15-20k miles left before it went.

The design flaw on the oil pump on these engines means that the key only engages at the tips of the hex key, not the entire surface... as the tips slowly wear down, eventually the hex key spins in the slot - result, no oil pump drive, no oil pressure and very shortly afterwards, no turbo and no engine.

It's a bad flaw with the 2.0 TDI prior to 2009. frown

I bought my A4 for £5k in 2020 on 90k miles and found out about this after purchase. Spent another £1k for the fix. I figured it was worth it in my instance. It is russian roulette otherwise. frown

Cheers,

Drew.

Here's an independent article all about the issue. It's a nasty piece of "planned obsolescence." Check carefully though, as some engines of the era were affected and some weren't.

Drew.

How on earth did you survive, we all know that a tyre made from less then unicorn tears and gold will kill you instantly, or wear out as soon as its of the lift,i will pray for you.

Was an advocate for decent brand rubber, but now I have embraced the shed mentality in my shed of choice, a Vectra C.

It has X3 budgets (X2 Delintes X1 HiFly & now X1 Kuhmo) due to a puncture as.."that's all we have on the shelf guv.."

Do lots of mileage did 1,000 miles this weekend, do lots of evasive driving too, due to morons on the road, tbh budgets aren't budgets like they were 20 years ago.

Btw, I would of sacked off refurbing that wheel and just got a set of 16" VAG fitment steel wheels off eBay, with some tyres already on them biggrin....and sell the alloys, (shed cashback)

Good shed this Exeo, enjoying your thread and updates.

I bent a wheel on my previous shed so bought another wheel from eBay that came fitted with a nearly new Autogreen. I then ran that quite happily on the front with a worn Avon, the Autogreen was the best tyre on the car.

I didn't die once infact I could not tell any difference.

I would happily run a set of Autogreens on a white goods car.

You'll be OK with the Exeo, they are all common rail and not PD like the engines found in the B7 A4. Exeo is the best of both worlds smile

The cheapo budgets (didn't even have a name, just a load of numbers on the side wall laugh) fitted to my Exeo were horrendously bad. It would spin the front wheels in 3rd in the wet and roundabouts in the rain felt more like ice rinks. They'd also cracked and fallen apart despite only being 18 months old. An extra ~£20 a tyre for Kumhos etc is well worth it in my opinion.

Yeah, the tyres have been fantastic value for money and have loads of life left so I'm very happy. It gets an easy life tootling up and down the A19 each morning at 70mph.

I'm pleased to hear that my engine won't lunch itself any time soon too, not that I was going to get any of the preventative work done anyway, but I appreciate those that posted who were looking out for me.

Also, got the wheel refurbed for £60... I'd assumed that it was just going to be the inner edge so the tyre sealed properly but I came back and the whole wheel looked brand new. Cheaper than getting a steelie delivered from eBay (I did check )

Next on the shopping list... nothing yet.
