Am taking delivery of a 14 plate 991 C4S next week so needed to sound out insurers. One of the 'best' quotes (cheapest) was Admiral @ c£780. The car is used regularly and sometimes for work, parked on drive (in SW London), although I do have full 20+yrs NCB, no convictions other than a 3 pointer / fixed fine for speeding 33 months ago.
Although price was good, I'm concerned with such a new car about issues with invalidating warranty if I claim and they refuse approved parts / repairers etc. Also, with a car of this value, I wanted some comfort on valuation price reflecting what I've paid for it, not some ultra low arbitrary figure issued by the insurance companies.
Based on the above concerns I thought I'd ring round a few specialist brokers to see what might be on offer. Some seemed to be geared only towards weekend cars, used for track days etc and wanted ridiculous £££s when they allowed for business use & 5k-6k miles pa. I was expecting to draw a blank but then called Lockton. They do gear up for occasional use and track days however thought they might be able to help as my mileage wasn't that great. In the end they came back with what I thought was a v good price - £1100 pa, £500 excess. This puts the replacement value of my car at the price I've paid for it (dealer's invoice needed to provide proof of value) and all repairs at a garage of my choice along with approved Porsche parts, legal cover, UK & European breakdown cover & 90 days Euro driving cover also.
Whilst this is clearly a big jump from the £780, I'm happy with the additional comfort of agreed value and Porsche parts etc costing me c£300 on top.
Appreciate not everyone will agree this is good value or justified (we all approach things differently eh?!) however for those of you like myself that take a more cautious view, I thought this might be of use! (And for what it's worth I'm a tight git that doesn't like to spend money unless I have to on these things ;-)

Only reason why I ask is that I have just renewed my insurance with Lockton this year - have previously been delighted with level of cover. However following the CMA review in 2015, Chubb (who Lockton use) are now apparently not using ncb or ncb ptotection in their ratings, therefore you will not accumulate ncb. This may or may not be an issue dependent on your personal circumstances.
For me, I've built up 9 years ncb on my Porsche as a second car & now, if I were to have a fault claim, would lose the lot! Lockton have advised that if I were to have a fault claim then it would only increase my renewal premium next year by circa 10% but of course cannot guarantee it. I certainly wouldn't like to try & get quotes on my Porsche with zero ncb therefore am now considering cancelling the Lockton policy within the cooling off period. For me its too risky to potentially lose 9 years ncb for one fault claim.
To avoid the faff of doing a multi car policy I decided to see what my forthcoming 718S would cost me on a new policy with zero ncb. Best quote I had was from Admiral at £777 which I didn't think was too bad, that was car kept on the driveway and I'm 38yrs old with one speeding offence. That's the route I'm going to take as my cheapest multi car quote was £1300 and my daily driver costs me £500 per annum.

Not so in my experience. I have agreed value on all 3 of my Classicline insured cars; The 997.2 GT3 & Golf G60 were a doddle to do, literally just fill out a simple form & email over some pix. Value agreed (£120k & £16k respectively) within a couple of days & documents issued by email. Another bonus is no tracker requirement, not to mention the Europe-wide breakdown cover that is included.The 993 GT2 recreation was a bit more involved & basically requires a valuation from an independant "expert" - in my case, the valuation officer for TIPEC obliged and Classicline accepted the valuation without a murmur. Classicline are the insurance partners for TIPEC & offer a 15% discount to members, which easily covers the TIPEC membership costs.
Both these Porsches were previously covered by Mannings at greater cost & without agreed value. Classicline have been very easy to deal with.
The 996 GT3 continues to be covered by Mannings due to their ability to offer unlimited mileage (CL have a 7.5K max) and unlimited UK trackday cover, which suits my use of that car.
Had a renewal come through for my '98 C2 from Admiral - £990 (London, M, 31, 11NCB, Clean licence, S&C) which is quite a jump from the 700ish renewal I was getting 6 months ago.
Tried Sky and they are quoting in the 1500 region!
What would you recommend for a daily driver, 10k miles per year?

Mannings quoted over £1000 - Most UK trackdays included (whom I was going to renew with due to greater trackday coverage)

Full U.K. + European Breakdown
70k Agreed value (need to send 6 photos - this is £24 for 2 years)
5k miles per year
Limited to 6 trackdays (include more organised events i.e. more than just PCGB)
Added my Brother, so i can share the driving enjoyment (this added £70-£100)
£581.76.......almost 1/2 of the other quotes.
Definitely worth giving them a call.

I have a 991 C4s '13, Locktons were around £1100 with a tracker (which I don't have). Limited to 5k miles.
I have the other cars inured with Directline and they quoted £1100 and "couldn't do anything" with the price as I renewed one of the current cars!
Admiral were £443, going with Classicline though after the recommendation above, very professional, efficient and a Porsche approved scheme.
I got a quote from NFU previously for one of the other cars and they were 3 times the price!

Worth noting that it is worth contacting your local NFU insurance broker as opposed to the main office who in my case did a Porsche multi car policy with agreed value on several vehicles of varying values over list at no extra cost for a tailored policy. ClassicLine was most expensive, probably as car's only three years old - £789
NFU next - £650
Lockton offers a great policy for £529 with £250 voluntary excess, but require membership of PCGB at £70 p.a. - £599

Manning just edged ahead for me when I did the rounds a couple of days ago on my 997.2 turbo. There wasn’t a lot in it between them and Locktons. What clinched it for me was Manning don’t insist on a tracker on cars under under £100k, whereas Locktons stipulate a tracker on cars over £70k. The tracker was costing me around £180 a year so I’ll be saving that. Manning also offer a NCD scheme which appealed too. Locktons have been great and I’ll certainly use them again if they offer a competitive price. ClassicLine was most expensive, probably as car's only three years old - £789

- Manning said no as I have not driven a performance RWD car for 2 years.
- Lockton do not do NCD and with max mileage of 7.5k is meant for second cars (Quote was £1055)
- A broker I called on recommendation would only quote with a Tracker.. I do not think my car has one (just bought it).

If your 997.2 C2S is one with a good/desirable spec I’d go for an agreed value policy...actually I would come what may. Difference between trade and what you can replace your car for is probably more than £5k.
I use both Hiscox and Zurich Private Client...both do agreed value and they don’t have mileage limits. Hiscox don’t do track day cover but are cheaper for the cars we “daily” that’s why the cover is split... I use a broker called Turner Rawlinson who someone on here recommended, I’ve found them to be excellent.
