If your 997.2 C2S is one with a good/desirable spec I’d go for an agreed value policy...actually I would come what may. Difference between trade and what you can replace your car for is probably more than £5k.

I use both Hiscox and Zurich Private Client...both do agreed value and they don’t have mileage limits. Hiscox don’t do track day cover but are cheaper for the cars we “daily” that’s why the cover is split... I use a broker called Turner Rawlinson who someone on here recommended, I’ve found them to be excellent.

No affiliation !
Thank you!! Very useful.. I’ll give them a go! I wasn’t planning to do a track day but might be tempted at some point.

Hi Cheib - feedback from the broker is that agreed value policies are only for 4 car fleets with 75k value.. so I couldn’t explore that option more. Will see if they are good for ‘market value’

We’ve just bought a 911 992 S Cabriolet - very excited for collecting it on Wednesday.

Our other car is with Admiral - and they look competitive on the 911 - but we have a worry. Porsche Original Parts and Porsche Workshops.

Does anybody have any experience with Admiral insurance when it comes to repairs? ...do they allow repairs to be carried out by the Porsche Dealer (who will no doubt use external body shops themselves, but that’s not the point....) or do they go with “approved repairer network” this ensuring it would end up in a non specialists shop?

Hoping that the answer is that Admiral recognise the specialist nature of certain cars, and authorise repairs appropriately. Anyone have experience either way - love to hear...

Hi Matt, I crunched the front of my 997 into a concrete post (long story frown) I contacted my insurance and said wanted it to go to repairer X for arguments sake. They agreed but it was going to cost me about 20% on top of the cost so I let it go to their recommended repairer... who I must say did a fantastic job, apart from the new front number plate advertised their body repair shop. No hiding the fact I’d bumped it then. My point is I wouldn’t worry, they don’t just use anyone. The insurance company needs the work to be done right.

I called Mannings 3 weeks ago for a quote to insure my 991.1 GT3RS......
£848 including unlimited track days.
When I phoned them back 2 days ago in order to proceed the price was now £1150.
Also it materialised that whilst on track the excess was 10% of the car’s value.

Maybe the wording varies by policy/ underwriter but my Mannings renewal from last week has a 15% excess for track days and a 125k limit on claims. Not an issue for me as I don’t track the car - in fact they now allow you to opt out of this element which for me brings the cost back to last year. Seems from other forums that the underwriter has increased premiums significantly.

I cannot find any car insurance provider who would use genuine (Porsche approved) parts.
I've looked at several so far - all terms conditions indicate they use non manufacturer approved (even recycled with one provider) parts.

Is there any normal insurer who understand that fitting a non manufacturer approved part invalidates manufacturer warranty?

I’ve used POrsche Insurance for years, now run by Carbon Insurance Brokers.

They guarantee genuine parts.

time for renewal for my 997.2 rs

I haven't done trackdays in it for years so was thinking of asking Mannings to drop it for cheaper coverage since they hiked premiums significantly.

Question on agreed value polices.. doesn't this make it more unlikely an insurer will writeoff the car? i mean if my car has 100k of damage, the insurer who has a 170k agreed value is just going to repair it whilst someone who has the market value clause might look to negotiate for payout if they think salvage value is 40k. hence paying 140k which i would prefer.

fact is i feel an agreed policy puts a higher threshold for writeoffs.......... which is beneficial only if your repair cost is higher than agreed value less salvage.
Thoughts?

That's an interesting perspective. I have a similar dilemma on my RS WP with Lockton who have agreed a value of £225k. All well and good except if the worst should happen on a track day incident where they agree to pay for any damage over and above 15% of the Rs' value. This translates in my case to me forking out the first £33,750.
If i had no agreed value and for argument's sake just a return to original invoice cost of £178k then 15% track excess is a much more reasonable £26,700.
Just an example of another con of having an inflated agreed value insurance albeit less costly than yours.

Worth trying these:

ClassicLine, preferred broker for TIPEC with discount for TIPEC membership and you nominate your choice of repairer. I have an agreed value policy with them for my 997 RS 4.0 & 987 Boxster Spyder.

NFU, independent insurer who only deal direct, not through a broker. Many Porsche Club members had good quotes and they also allow you to nominate your choice of repairer.

but in your example, the payout is greater therefore worth the insurance.

if you think about just accident damage less than writeoff value then you may as well not get the increased agreed value. I suppose if you are willing to accept less there could always be a negotiation. My point being the option value only kicks in on an unequivocal write off tail event. everyone buys insurance for a tail event but seems like "agreed value" is less than what it seems.

Fair?

Does anyone know of a specialist eg Locktons et al that don’t require a tracker?

You'll be lucky. Most of the specialists require a tracker and there's quite a lot of high street insurers insisting that trackers are active before they'll insure.
