Ferg, black headlight surrounds are because the body colour headlight trims are brand new and awaiting painting. An OPC paint centre made such a hash of respraying them in 2002 that they are being replaced.

I quite like the badger look myself tho'

I've got a set of 17" cup wheels which would fit a 964rs, could be supplied with a set of used P Zero Corsa's or lightly used Pilot Sport Cups. Drop me a mail, I can arrange delivery.

Fear of it's current owner subscribing to this fine forum previously stopped me voicing an opinion on the car but it is less than perfect.

I saw it recently when it was very poorly [turbo seals blown ++]and it was up on a hoist, it is'nt in the kind of condition that a car from Tomas would be. Perhaps that describes it best.
However it is still 1 of 7 RHD 993GT2 and as such will always command a premium as people mistakenly believe that rarity will always outweigh condition.

No one in their right mind mistakes condition for rarity. As Vic said look how long the car hung around. If it was any good it would have been snapped up - I went to look at it a year ago last December and would have had it.

It never ceases to amaze me, in such a small world, how little people look into the history of such small volume vehicles................its all there , as u know, Alan if u look for it.......little bit like a cup car on another thread on another Forum! At least that is nt the thick end of £100k and the buyer was clearly young and a little over enthusiastic ...........perhaps i am just too old and cynical !

Vic, don't worry, I think it was just Merkin Melvin's comment about the Cuppie having canine parentage that rankled

Is it John ? I think we are all saying the same as nicely as we can. The car hung around because it was perceived to be less than perfect even at c£90k.
But yet it still sold for c£110 ???

Go figure

Just how bad is that car in the flesh? I understand a number of people have seen it and that Melv's being stalked as a result of his humourous comments about the car . I still think that's a good buy at the £10k oor thereabouts that the guy paid for it.

As for the GT2 - I didn't get a chance to look at it -but presume it was less than perfect?

I dont wish to be specific about the red car, all I'm saying is that when spending that amount of money on a very rare car you need to make sure it is 100% right. Vic - you're not old and cynical - just old and logical!

Ok very last try for one and all on the Red GT2
I have no idea who owns it now or where it is ; i of all people can tell u precisely what it takes in money to rebuild a GT2 engine !!!!!!!!! Hence i ask what Porsche engine could be in the state that was at less than 10 000 miles ? How could the Bodywork be so badly painted or why when it belonged to an exteremly wealthy Chines guy ? Finally it was advertised as a Clubsport initially,i think they re were 17 ever, and it aint one of them the Trader did nt even understand what i meant .........u cud actually see from website piccies !!!!!
So add it all up one way or another and £40k might restore it if its to be a top value car ........£110k as it was is no less than astonishing.......time will pass and the fraternity may forget.......and the above are only clues maybe when u put it all together its a lovely car a little run down needing a little TLC ..i did nt buy at figure staring with the number 8...money/mouth rearrange and that was my choice dont begrudge anyone having some fun or making money or both ...........just not out of me in these circumstances.

But if the car in question is one of only 7 in the world, then surely it will always be a good car if it is sold at the right price?

And how much would have to be spent to turn it into a good example of this exceptionally rare breed?

The guy who used to own the car, and had the misfortune to be in it when the panels were rearranged (not his fault, just to clarify) is on the other forum and has the pics and knows the story. He contacted me when I registered an interest in it (at 10k, who wouldn't?) for my tech. Shows it's a small world.

wow theres some interest in 993gt2,not to be ever confused with the mass produced uneventfull but fast 996!
John oop north has sold his yellow RHD 993 gt for a little short of £150k
The red car in question has less miles than when i looked at it 3 years ago, for some reason, dont want to say any more, but the condition of the car verifies the mileage! But if purchased for the right money and brought back up to spec, should be a reasonable buy.
There are two of us with sister cars, that will not part with our cars for less than £1--K,have you noticed the prices of any rare but genuine porsches, modern day or historic.
Just to put the record straight on rhd numbers, the numbers you are suggesting is for the uk and does not account for world wide,my car was the first RHD made in 95 out of 13 cars for 95,then there was 96 & 97.
On a more interesting note any body going to the ring in nov with either rma or easy track.
Regards
Paul.

Hi Vic
No martins car,is in swindon london corridor some where,it was for sale through chiswick porsche last,it was M9Fun.Mine is M1 cgt.
I tend to not track it to much, prefer to keep this as nice as poss. The car is totatly original except for steering wheel, got rid of air bag and put proper rs/gt wheel on,it was also armourfended from new.But saying that it went around silverstone with in 3 weeks of owning it.And i have done a few charity days at combe.A nice tour of the lakes with other half was also good.Still only done about 8k miles though from new.Its just had the engine wiring loom replaced at lovetts on a recall, have you and JC had yours replaced. They had a problem with the looms catching fire!
My car went from Reading directly to New Zealand, after steve kevlin demod the car for the first owner. The car was ordered by the giltrap family who have a dealership for some cars in the uk,but are also the distributor for porsche in New Zealand. They ordered two x gt,1xred & 1xsilver,they then chose red and sold my car off to there personal freind, and porsche racer from new zealand.Who now has a 962 road car!
These 2 cars never got registered in the uk,i believe the red one is still in new zealand, there is also apparently four rhd in australia, one that i was offered is black and had a few miles and owners.
I am thinking of taking the gt down to the ring in nov,if can be brave enough to.I keep telling myself that i will drive sensibly in it,which is ok until JC comes raring by,then the chase would be on!So do i trust myself to have the self control.
Regards
