I can't help but think that a water cooled bike isn't ideal for the locations these are used in.
I'd assumed that the 452 would be an addition to the range, unless there is forthcoming Indian legislation that will outlaw the air-cooled 411.They'll certainly take a hammering - Aussies in Nepal on Scrams (awful name )

It will be interesting to see how much the new one costs in the UK. The new Triumphs are £5k and £5.5k and the current Himalayan is £5k (although you can find them for £4k), but there isn't really any direct rival for the Himalayan.
Lead engineer says that the 450 has 65% more power. The 411 has 17.88kW/24bhp, which makes the new model 29.5kW/39.5bhp.

After our India trip, several of us said we were glad we'd been but wouldn't go back - that video makes me think twice! I think they were further south and east than us; we didn't leave India, although the local people were very noticeably much more Nepalese-looking once you got higher in the mountains. They'll certainly take a hammering - Aussies in Nepal on Scrams (awful name )

Re the new bike, we're all experienced riders with many different bikes at home, and the Scram 411 was actually more than capable with it's weedy 24bhp (which someone calculated, when we were at the highest altitude, was probably more like 9bhp ). Using it to 39bhp would certainly make a huge difference.

The Himalayan is now at 400 miles! Mostly local trips and one jaunt over Exmoor. First service in a few weeks time and will then try and get it out a bit more now the sun is shining. Despite having only 17% of the power of the Tiger 1200, it is still such a fun bike. And much more friendly around town!

I picked mine up at the beginning of April. 800 miles so far, and I think it's a good choice as the hack to keep me riding when there's crap all over the roads. I was a bit precious about the Triumph this winter.
It coped very well with the Zoji La pass in India, fortunately it was dry but when it rains this part of the road is just a mud slide. I had to stop whilst a JCB type vehicle helped a truck get free after it got stuck. Further up several streams were crossing the road and washing bits away. So it should cope with UK roads just fine snagzie said:
Still loads in stock in MotoGB dealers near me in NW England. £3800/900 depending on paint.
Is the scram a bit more of a blast to ride? Just want something I can commute on when not using the 1290SAS but still have a blast, or would a Husky 401 be better? (I'm 6'1 though)
I think you'd enjoy the Husky much more than the Himalayan. The Himalayan was a bit small for me and I'm same height as you, plus it is not a powerful bike, it's not a have a blast type bike.
