Can’t wait. Hope it’s good weather in Spain this weekend.

It’s probably nostalgia but I like the super pole format.

GIR first into the 36s.

Was there no Saturday race today? Are they running a different format this year then?
I think they are going back to standard qualifying and a three race format for the other rounds.

Have to wonder how well Bridewell would have gone if the bike hadn't cried enough....again.
Surprised O'Halloran wasn't closer to the front, maybe the Kawasaki isn't the bike he thought it was going to be.

Good result for the Yamaha riders though but FHO struggling again
Bridewell definitely out performed the bike / team.

If o’halloran can get a result it’s to his credit as the Kawasaki is on a downward spiral.

Anyone know why msv purchased this track ?
.
I’d guess because it’s warm and dry more often than not. Probably also relatively cheap compared to uk options.

Can someone please explain to me how FHO are probably the biggest spenders in BSB but their bikes are crap?
Honda haven’t done a lot better with possibly a bigger budget.

There is definitely a sweet spot in budget vs team size and neither of these two have got it right.

Fundamentally though the Yamaha seems to suit the BSB format and is relatively easy to ride so the others are already on the back foot.

Anyone been following the testing? It's all very close at the top, at times there was less than a second covering the fastest 15. For sure, we don't know who were running full race distances and who were merely popping on new tyres for three laps of willy-waving, but on the face of it it looks like being a very exciting season me thinks.
I’d agree. Top 10 is close. I still think you need a yam or Duc to challenge for the title.

The skinner crash was horrible to see. Quite often when a helmet comes off it’s a lot more serious.

Thankfully he’s fine.

Decent racing I thought.

Good for Bridewell bad for FHO bit indifferent for OMG.

GIR looking good.

I think the TB talk of a super stock engine is mind games but whatever the truth is doesn’t look good for Honda. It’s embarrassing when nobody else has similar issues.

Some of the BSB teams build motors with less power than possible deliberately, for circuits like Oulton, Knockhill etc. You can take power out with the electronics, but it won't give you the added driveability you want lower down compared to a purpose built spec. As above, also the stock motors in most of the 1000's are so good these days you could bolt one in and still be competitive at circuits like these.

As for Rory, assuming he hasn't changed it since last season, he has quite a lot of hair. A thick layer of hair between your head and the lining of a crash helmet will always increase the movement between the two things, and increase the chances of it coming off. It's probably one of the reasons (as well as heat) that the vast majority of the GP paddock have pretty short hair, across all three classes only a handful I can think of with long hair.

I know nothing about Rory's incident so not saying that is what the issue was, but a lot of hair under lids is something that people often don't think enough about the safety aspect.
Guy Martin had his share of big crashes with plenty of hair. Don’t think he’s had a helmet come off.

Same. My series link picked it up but I didn’t realise that Eurosport didn’t have race 2 on Monday so I deleted the dmax and then had to recover it.

I thought the quality was because of that but obviously not. Never mind HD it can’t have been more than 380 or whatever the lowest is. It was a bit like watching a 90s fast bike vhs copy of a copy.

It’s two sides of the same coin but I think Ryde’s problem is that he doesn’t see himself as a race winner.

If you don’t believe you deserve to win a race it’s easy to end up backing off even if your conscious brain doesn’t think that’s what is happening.
