Typical isn't it? 3 years and 1 month old and just into my ownership and driving along and the infotainment system clicks and dies.

OK, I think, maybe a fuse blew - I checked them today, they seem OK, reset as suggested in some forums doesn't work, so I've got an auto electrician coming to look at it tomorrow.

The car is a 2017 Golf R 7.5 - Dash is working fine, but no Sat Nav, Audi, Phone or ability to switch modes (done via the infotainment screen) - Basically everything related to the big screen in the middle of the dash.

Has anyone else experienced sudden 'death' of their VW infotainment system and managed to resolve it?

Thanks

M

Found out that it's the infotainment control unit (the one in the glove box) - £1900 replacement...

VW quality at its best.

Dealer offered to knock some off themselves but VW are essentially saying "F**k Off, it's your problem" - OK, it's out of warranty, but one month on a part that gets no wear and tear and NOTHING?

Not impressed by them, to be honest - Other manufacturers have been far more customer friendly in the past.

OP:

Are you aware of this?:

Due to the circumstances created by the COVID-19 crisis, all Volkswagen manufacturer warranties* that were due to expire between 1 March and 31 May 2020, have been extended by three months.

Give you some leverage?

I wasn't, but, of course, mine expired on 5th June... frown

Yep, but I meant it might give you some leverage.
Of course, it didn't - VW were the most unhelpful manufacturer I've ever had any dealings with. Did I feel like a valued customer? No, I was made to feel like an irritant who was spoiling their day by mentioning that one of their quality products had failed days out of warranty.

A pretty sh*t attitude from everyone I spoke to at VW.

The local dealer, Martins, were more helpful and recoded a used unit I acquired for a total cost about a 5th what VW wanted to charge me for what transpired would have been a 'factory reconditioned' unit.

Must be something about manufacturers with V at the beginning of their names, last VAG group car I buy and I made a similar vow after owning a Vauxhall many years ago...

Or because they're paid to?

Obviously an unfashionable idea these days.

In reality, whether the staff 'give a toss' or not, the decisions are set by the VW management, hence my decision to swerve their products in future.

Shame as I had a Chiron on order biggrin
