When the Sensation launches I think the Desire S will have to drop in price as well, so it is worth hanging on either way.
I thought the same would happen with the original Desire when the Desire HD was launched, however even after a month or two it never came to pass.

Noo! Sorry didn't explain very well.
Say the apps were £3 each. That was taken out.

Then for every app I downloaded, There was a £1 charge taken a day after.
I think that's your bank charging you £1 for the privilege of letting you spend your money in anything other than pounds, not Google.

Try a different card if you have one.
Yep, never been charged the extra and I've bought about 20 apps through the market

Reading a bit more into it, This does seem to be the case.
Will try another Card/Account next time smile

That's cos the original Desire was a huge success - so much better than most of the competition. Don't think the same is true of the S. It's pretty mid-range, not a huge jump forward and has no real distinguishing features.

Its not dark grey is it? As google mail icon has changed from white to grey on mine after the update
No. Don't use my GMail account. Just yahoo.
Well it's now sorted. Somehow I had inadvertently tried to send an email to myself and it had got caught up somewhere in the system. I managed to delete it and no more icon.

Also found that the upgrade had changed the settings on email so it still left emails on the phone even after they were deleted or downloaded from the server. A tick in the right box sorted that out.

Anyone for the new BB Bold due out soon.;)

I picked up my Desire S on Monday night, I am really happy with it.

My biggest concern was getting used to a touchscreen, but I have picked that up much quicker than I originally anticipated.

Although I'm sure I'll be faffing around for the next few weekks arranging things just how I like them

That never stops. You'll get it how you like it, then after a few weeks of that you'll get bored and rearrange it all again!

The Desire S is not meant to be the top of the range, it is a continuation of the Desire with some nice little improvements, probably because the Desire was still selling well.

Looks like a cracking phone if you are not bothered about being at the cutting edge though.

I'm now having MAJOR problems with my Desire's memory.
I have app 2 SD and moved all the apps I could to my SD where I have tonnes of space. I've uninstalled the updates for Google maps and Gmail as they were huge. I have also deleted all the apps it will let me, which couldn't be moved to SD. However it's still saying I only have 11MB space left and I can't get rid of the "low space" icon on the top bar.
The worst thing is I've been waiting all month for the Angry Birds Rio update and even though it's on my SD card it's saying there isn't enough space to install it confused
I really don't want to have to do a factory reset and loose all my data. Where has all my memory gone?!

That sounds like more than just memory leaks - weird. Hard reset might be your only solution. My Hero is totally out of memory and I have to uninstall another app every week or so as it soaks up everything remaining.

If you are synced with Google you should have most stuff except your text messages backed up anyway.

Have you tried clearing the cache from apps like email and internet? They can tie up a lot of space.

I've cleared the cache through my app 2 SD app. Trying to delete a load of text messages but that doesn't seem to have any affect. I'm not sure what else is stored in the phone I can get rid of.

Oh an I have also ticked "delete old messaged" and set it to 100, but despite even resetting it, I still have messages well over the 100 limit.

Be careful clearing out the email - I found that with my BT and Hotmail it also wiped all the server settings etc, ie. it completely removed the accounts.

Having had a lull where I just deleted a load of stuff off the phone, I'm getting back to thinking about rooting. I guess I just need to be in the right frame of mind to sit down and actually do it.
