Finally got around to ringing. It’s not been too of the list.

1Gb broadband, £35. I could do *slightly* better at Vodafone, but £4 a month for an easy life is probably money well spent.

I did the phone dance, cancelled and then 2 days later they offered it to me at the same price I've been paying, £26 for 250. I'll take that given the lack of choice around. Inflation busting at least

Cancelling this 02 sim is becoming a pain - barstewards
I found it really easy - Just rang up O2 and asked to cancel. Job done
You'd like to think so wouldn't you?

We did - then the next bill came followed by the threat of court action if we didn't pay......
Annnnd still.

I'm not sure how many calls/web chats/visits to O2 shops we've had -with at least at least six defined cancellations which seem to have been ignored or 'missed'on their db.

Another day of cancellation attempts tomorrow then.

Leaving VM having been with them since the beginning and Blueyonder well before that.

350Mb broadband only was £37 a month, got the email saying it was going up to £57 a month! Best they could offer on the phone was £47 a month.

USwitch are offering 900Mb fibre, plus a £70 or £90 gift card for £35 or £32 a month through Sky and Vodafone respectively. Will do a bit research on who's best...

I "cancel" my Virgin services every 18 months, every time I call their bluff and they offer me a good deal to stay, all part of the game. Always, i've went to a call-centre in the West of Scotland for the re-negotiations but not today, it was the same person I spoke to throughout todays call and wasn't interested in the slightest to keep me. Other than offering me the £47 a month deal, the only other tactic employed was to say if I change provider i'll need to add all my devices onto the new wireless network which is a lot of hassle. When I told her I have my own wireless access points around the house so that won't be necessary she didn't have anything to say and just processed the cancellation.

Oh well, could do without the hassle of being in for the engineer but for a potential £90 Amazon voucher and £15 a month saving by going to Vodafone, its a small price to pay...

Wish I could cancel. VM are the only decent broadband service around here - next best is old-skool copper from BT at 'up to' (yeah, right) 24Mb. My 250Mbps service from Virgin is actually about 275, and TBF has been very reliable. But it's also bloody expensive (including TV which we use a bit, and phone line which we don't) and unfortunately they know they are the only good provider of broadband here, and so aren't very interested in doing a retention deal.

I have two kids, a crapload of gadgets, and WFH most of the time. Decent broadband is crucial to me - and I suppose Virgin cable is still a damn site cheaper than commuting.

I did similar and moved to Sky as the most they would offer me was £2 off! Then, after I'd cancelled and ordered Sky, VM called me up and offered to undercut Sky, but I told them no. The chap who called from VM got really quite shirty when I refused to stay, saying "So you're going to pay more per month elsewhere just because you're annoyed?". I said 'Yep' and hung up. The annoying thing is that the VM broadband was spot on, it's their customer service that stinks.

I spent 45 minutes on a chat session to cancel Virgin, which was fine as I got on with other things. The best bit was the follow up call though.

I have had Youfibre for 6/7 months now alongside, as they offered it to me for £1 a month for 6 months. When Virgin called me back a couple of days later and asked if I had a better price etc, I told them I already had Youfibre and didn't need them anymore. This confused the woman on the phone -
'You have had another provider while with us?'
'Yes.'
'Why?'
'It was £1 a month, with symmetrical upload and download.'
'But why???'

We went round in circles like this for a couple of minutes, and she was VERY confused. When it became clear I was not budging she got fairly annoyed and hung up. Maybe I should have been cross with the way she spoke to me, but I just found it highly amusing.

I have heard VM have started offering symmetrical upload and download, but Youfibre offered it first and even at full price its only £35 a month with my static IP, so VM would never have beaten it anyway.

Have you tried 4 or 5G?

In our area, VM have sharpened their pencils considerably on price since Openreach rolled out FTTP. My current £24/m deal for M350 expires in October so I am going to have to do the merry dance again...

A few months left on mine.
City Fibre are here now, proper competition (Openreach copper is pants here)
I’ll get Toob BB installed a couple of weeks before, to ensure all good.
Will then cancel Virgin & their rpi price hikes!
Will switch regardless of what they offer (currently £30+ hike for M350)

Toob a £75 Amazon voucher on signup :-
