I asked at least 15 companies for a quote to get it trucked back to UK and so far i got 0 answers…

I guess with Brexit in place there is simply less car on trucks traffic these days and comoanies are not interested into that business for just 1 car

That looks fairly straightforward, if not taxed or Mot’d you can’t drive it back into the country, you will need to transport it in on lorry/trailer, make it sorn, and not drive it until MOT/TAX updated (except to take for mot)

Just drive it.
Alternatively look around for an ex pat run garage, I'm sure you will be able to find someone with a relationship with a UK MOT station who will do sign off an MOT if they do the checks, I'm sure there have been plenty of people in your situation.

Trailer it.
Or take his chances.

edit: driving without an MOT is a fairly minor offence in the uk - just a fine.
Same in France for no CT (135 euro fine, just looked), so I can't imagine anyone being too interested as long as it's roadworthy.

Yep - I drove in Italy for the best part of 18 months with no British MOT and no British Tax (I took the viewpoint I'm not paying tax when I'm not even in the bloody country). I got asked for "documents" once - that was Italian police and they wanted to see my license, and I'm not sure what else, as I replied that they are all in England. MOT was of course impossible, as that's a British thing.

Nothing bad happened.

I did however leave the car there as I could not be arsed to run the MOT & Tax gauntlett when I returned to the UK (and the car was crash damaged), but looking back, and based on the the fact in the last 10 years both myself and my Mrs have driven for months and months with no MOT by mistake (in the UK) and we didn't get "pinged" anywhere, If I were to do it again, I'd drive it back to the UK with an MOT booked just because why not.

Take out European recovery insurance, drive it a mile down the road, make it breakdown, phone recovery company.

How hard can it be? Looks obvious to me!

Please note: I am not a lawyer, I am not an MOT tester and I'm certainly not a European transport expert.
Other options and opinions are available.

On the getting transported option……… you could try E M Rogers of Northampton. Harry Metcalfe used them to take his Alfa spider out to Italy to spectate on the Mille Miliga.

Or “Transmec” - they have about 60 trucks constantly moving between Jedi and Modena in Italy to Basildon in Essex.

Don't think that's legal or even possible.
Answer is simple and has been stated. Book MOT in UK, then drive there.

Whether it does or not, 'I'm on my way to a pre-booked MOT' is an absolute excuse for driving a SORNed car with no MOT.

I'd expect one of the stipulations of a recovery policy would be that the car has a current MoT and / or VED. Mine states this. Otherwise, this would happen, a lot, just in the UK!

Anyone who trailers a car (must cost several thousand?) Because of an expired MOT is mental.

I'd drive it back for a free lunch!

Damm, I thought there might be a flaw in the plan wink

Book a UK mot. Drive it home. No big deal.

Talk of trailers etc is a bit overkill IMHO.

Personally I’d probably drive it back to Calais and ship it the remainder but if you need shipping OP I have a mate who does fully insured high value enclosed vehicle transport and is on his way to Dover for a run to a drop off in Milan with an empty run back

DM me if it’s useful to you

Your breakdown cover probably won’t be valid either if that makes any difference. When I broke down earlier this year the first thing the operator did was say “Bear with me, I just need to check the MOT status”.

They will get it taken to a local garage, where you will have to pay to 'FIX' your fake breakdown, and then still have to get it back somehow.
