Associated costs of returning "installed" hardware
Discussion
OP mentions further back that he has taken on multiple DIY jobs, but doesn't have tools for electricity or plumbing. Tap installation can be carried out even with a cheap adjustable spanner & most household electrical stuff doesn't require much more than a couple of screwdrivers & maybe side cutters. All these tools would be required anyway for the simplest of DiY jobs, so I don't buy it.
Slightly O/T, but my Screwfix shower mixer valve lasted 1 month longer than the warranty. Corroded from the inside out. I can only guess it was made from Chinese monkey metal & cheese. Replaced with a QX valve, but I think it might be an identical item to the SF version. They're less than £50, but 13 month lifespan might be false economy. Surface mount standard fittings very easy to swap out though.
