Well, that was a pants day aboard Jonesey I, didn't manage to get the speedo much above 0.6Kts for the whole 12Hrs!! Gone from 4000 to 17000th in around 3 days!
Looks pretty nip and tuck between OutrunnerII, HMSMolevision and Miksbrick
Thankfully JoneseyII snuck ahead of the Doldrums band. Now through the gate, but haven't got a bloody clue which way to go now! Anyone else got any thoughts on tactics? Half tempted to head South and hope to pick up some decent wind to then break East, but the 7Day forecast doesn't seem to show any decent cyclones to justify the extra mileage

yeh been looking for a route and short of doing a complete u turn and heading east n east I cant see much that appeals. there's a band of calm winds that you might be able to sneak along the edge of but that ain't great either. hopefully the forecast will change to something more interesting in the next couple of days.

I'm now at 19500 having been behind due to a late start... Guess I'm taking advantage of the mid atlantic swells. Still wishing I had the full sail sets!

Based on last night's forecast, theres no real benefit of hitting a corner from wind strength or direction, and it looks like its going to fluctuate ~20degrees on about a 24-36 hr cycle up the middle, so doing that and playing the shifts is what I'll be doing unless it changes in a minute.

It has changed, there may be some stronger winds moderately right at 2-3 days, they are forecast to move east quite quickly though.
The roaring 40s seems to be living up to their name, but they're 2400 miles south of the gate, so itll take a week to get there. I don't know how fast te heavy kite is in 30kts plus tho yet, has anyone seen any tables?
Up to 5 days central is safe, maybe slightly right to make use of the rhumb line, but go to far either way and it'll be on the nose again when you want to tack.
Im going to start right, it doesn't hinder the safe option for 36hours, and by then itll be clear whether that strong wind is going to be worth chasing.

I'll be splitting Outrunner I & II, not sure which one will go south just yet.

Not sure which boat will go where yet either. I think I will sacrifice the last one to be the "outsider" and take a gamble, the other two will take a more conventional route. It is worth noting they have all swapped places since Gibraltar, so anything is possible.

Well, finally through the gate but seem to have lost a raft of positions in the process, not sure why. I almost broke into the top 20,000 but I'm back around 26,000 again now.
It's frustrating only having the basic two sails to choose from. Who's in the highest spot with only the basic sails?

You should have a set of 4 if you go into the shop use the free 100 credits to buy two more sails

Outrunner II is running basic sails, currently 6236, I'm sure there are some others here that are higher.
