Nice work Slaney.
I was in Chernobyl after I crashed, keeping over watch on the car as there was quite a bit of decent loot in the boot. I hadn't seen anyone for ages since someone ontop of another building Alt F4'd when I opened fire.
Luke was making his way south to me by this point, I had already spotted a car wheel through the door of a nearby building. Then I spotted a player running across the field about 300m away. He stopped to engage a zombie. I zeroed and fired. 1 murder.
Luke appeared on the northern tree line just as I spotted two more players sneaking into town from the south west. I directed Luke towards the building that had the wheel, I'd lost site of the players and was frantically scouting around. Just as he went to cross the road he had connection issues and spotted a player staring him in the face from over the way. I got up on one knee, fired and picked up my second kill. Just as I lay down again a player climbed the ladder infront of me! Dancing around me with a makarov pistol after running through two clips he'd only managed to hit me twice while I was firing rounds from my M107. I thought I was dead for sure, when I saw the blood shoot from his body as I got a direct hit as he fell I waited for the black screen. It never came. I was in disbelief that I'd survived. I quickly looted what he had of worth and hid the body.
Luke returned just as I started scouting around again with the thermal scope. Looking towards the north east there was a petrol station, a player was inside a building next to it. Again I fired. 4 kills. While Luke fixed the car two more appeared inside the same building as the last. One keeping watch while the other looted my last kill. I downed the first one and could see the other behind the building wall. Leaving his gun exposed, I knew he'd break for better cover soon. Patiently I waited, my heart was racing by this point. The player darted out and behind another building. Luke was repairing the wheel and was out in the open. My target moved just into view, exposing just enough from the side of a house to take a shot. I didn't hesitate. 6 kills and I darted down the ladders, jumped in the car and even with 5 bodies close by to loot I just wanted to get out of there. Those M107 shots travel well, no doubt more players would be along soon.
I've honestly never played a game like this, the exhalleration was immense!
Thanks to Luke we saved the yellow car. Later we hooked up with Alan again, headed back to rearm then headed out to the airfield in the UAZ. I left them after we checked the south barracks and Alan picked up a kill with an L85 on the way into the airfield.
(not quite up to Luke's standard but typing this quickly on an iPhone!)

Nice write up Muska! I really enjoyed the Cherno trip even though you did all the work!! It was really tense just hearing you call out the players and hearing fire over my head, mad! We retrieved an M24 and an M4 from the airfield; definitely going to take an MP5 SD next time as we aggroed soooooo many zombies! Stupidly the quietest gun we took there was an M249

Is the any way to contact the server admins? Perhaps they could make an exception for you? Your ping is not that terrible to the server.

Asterix said: I am SO pissed off I can't get on the UK126 server im guessing they have a ping cap on the server? As mentioned if there is any way to contact the admins that would be the best bet. Failing that im sure we could always join a server your on and setup a little base there whenever we come across some tents/vehicles

Asterix, are you still gtting 0 servers? If so and an validate/verify arma2, OA and CO if you have them on steam.
Run each one seperately to the start up screen (as you would have to when installing dayz.
The relaunch six and all will be ok. THe arma update can corrupt a few files.

The L85 is outrageous... it's like being the predator. Got to try out the night vision in it before I logged out last night and it works pretty well too although once you disable it your eyes take ages to adjust again.
I got us another M4 from the Hangars are the airfield too, but besides killing like a million zombies and making way too much noise there wasn't much else.
Was good fun last night, even if 3/4 of it for me was running in circles with no idea where I was.

I've just installed this and I really really want to like it. I really do. But after several hours of creeping about carefully exploring followed by a few more of making mad dashes to try and find anything useful I've managed to acquire an M1911 with two mags...and use all the ammo trying to get a better weapon at a military base. Oh, and dying upon running out.
Where am I going wrong? I don't mind creeping about for a bit but it get's painfully slow when you've not got a weapon.

Stay out of towns when you have little and you're new to the game would be my advice. Look for barns and farms where you'll likely find shotguns and possibly rifles in good supply. Military installations are hot spots for players too and you'll no doubt end up shot on a well populated server.
There are some good starter gameplay videos on youtube if you have a search on there. Persevere, it's well worth it. Welcome to join some of us when we're on I'm sure.

Yeah I started out trying to loot large towns and lost A LOT. Plus there are more zomies at the bigger towns so more chance of being seen. Loot smaller towns and farmsteads in the middle of the map then try and find a supermarket to loot. Once you get a decent weapon and a good run it is fun.
I restarted today after my player being wiped by the server to find I was my original guy again. 3 days in, 3 cans of food,3 water bottles. Coolio.

Berezino is a great place to start out, loads of loot (it is pretty big, 2 supermarkets, mil tents, pubs, offices, hospitol) and very quiet as it is out of the way of most of the action.

Think I may head there. I want a decent rifle. I had a choice of M1014 shotgun, MP5SD or AKM with one clip for each.
Picked the MP5SD atm to aid my town raiding. Will swap it for a decent high powered rifle provided I can find some ammo. Got my trust m1911 sidearm aswell.

I think I may have gone with the M1014. You're more likely to find shotgun shells, and you can combine them to make the correct ammo for your gun. Plus it's the only one thats a 1 hit kill on zombies.
The AK might be best for Player V Player although 1 clip is not much!

AKM mags are pretty common around the military spawns and deer stands, shotgun may be too but I tend to ignore them so not too sure. The MP5SD is great for clearing zombies but it chews through ammo and the SD ammo is not too common.
I miss my trusty 1911 one hit zombie kills, moved on to the G17 now just for the higher magazine size. Pistols are the best for clearing out zombies when you can get away with using them as they are much quieter than rifles and shotguns; excluding the SD weapons of course.
ETA: If you find a better rifle, it would be worth keeping the MP5SD as a spare as it does come in pretty handy, especially at the NW airfield.

I just experienced my first combat and it was so exciting. My heart was pounding at the end of it.
I had just spawned near Cherno and ran in and quickly got a pack, matches, knife, compass, binos, lots of food and drink, an enfield and revolver. I thought I would check out Balota airfield as the server was fairly quiet. When I got to the first building next to the runway a player jumped out with a hatchet.
Up until now nobody has been aggressive towards me when I have bumped into other players. I had a chat with one player and texted with another. I have even rescued a guy with a hatchet who aggroed some Zombies.
I fired a warning shot which aggroed a zombie into chasing the guy off. I checked the other buildings and control tower aand found nothing interesting so I went to check the sand bagged tent base with 4 deer stands. As I was trying to find the entrance to it, shots started flying past from behind me. I dived behind a Hunvee and the shooting intensified. The bullet sound effects are awesome by the way. I couldn't see where the shots were coming from and I was bricking it by now. I suddenly caught a flash of movement as the guy tried to get closer behind another vehicle. I fired at him with the enfield and missed.
He decided to rush me and got off a burst that took me down to 5500 blood. I fired again at him and hit him in the chest this time. The zombies in the base were going mental by now and I thought my heart would explode. The guy had virtually nothing on him except for the Hatchet which I took. I decided to leave his AK as he couldn't seem to hit me with it and the Enfield dropped him so nicely.
It was such a rush, I am really loving this game so far.

Got hold of a AK Cobra last night - much better for headshotting the Zeds.
I'm currently logged out within the perimeter of the big NW airfield so hopefully the server will be quite later so I can have a mooch about.
Also came across my first heli crash site - nothing there though as it must have been looted before.

I'm on now on UK126 if anyone is coming on. Found a bike on my slow trip out of the NW Airfireld perimeter. Made it back to base and heading south now to try and find a ghilli suit!
Well done for surviving the combat, heart pounding stuff eh!

Well done for surviving the combat, heart pounding stuff eh! I might make it on tonight if anyone is going to be on I've been messing with the settings to try and speed it up with only minimal luck, it still looks rubbish. One of the things I noticed on youtube was a guy showing you that you can make huge difference by setting up a RAM drive and having it play from that. I'm not going to bother (see below) doing that but looks worthwhile if you're still looking for more performance. Decided to sell my iMac and just build a gaming pc because I seem to be using it mainly for that. So been busy doing a bit of research into what's a fairly good spec... overclocked core i5, nvidia a 670gtx, SSD drives, plenty ram etc, and get a good 27" monitor too. That way it might last a while, and I can see what the latest games look like at above minimum settings at a rubbish res.
