Morning all.
after seeing the post about the Facetracknoir yesterday, I decided I'd give it ago last night.. downloaded the files and followed the Youtube vid in order to get it set up. After 30 mins or so setting it up, I managed to get it working with ED but........
The mouse has stopped working for ship control whilst the face tracking software is active !! previously, I had my mouse wheel button set to turn headlook on / off. I set up the FTnoir with a toggle button to turn on /off but when turned off, mouse is still dead ( the left / right click still works for hardpoints deployment and firing) Does anyone know how to set up ED so they work together ??
Cheers.

Found a new trade tool here: http://bloodhound.ethx.net/
It shows some very profitable routes which aren't on Thrudd's so it may need further investigation. Perhaps Thrudd's more dedicated users are removing the profitable goods from trade routes they use, or maybe this new one is wrong. Sadly I'm in the process of tidying and cleaning the flat in prep. for estate agent pictures so I'm not going to get chance to play this week :'(

I am still yet to complete a big bounty. Every one I've tried has been a tooled up Anaconda that has spanked me. I tried one this morning and before I got a shot off he had me down to no shields and 32% hull, even though I was chaff spamming. Given up on them. I've taken out loads of Anacondas at RES and nav beacons, but never in a mission.anonymous said:

Yes, I've developed a list of Things Not To Do and those are on them. However, have you noticed that if you put your landing gear down before the letterbox the landing site often has its lights and number turned off? Many the time I've been floating in the station shouting "show me the goddam landing site" at the screen. Retracting the landing gear usually causes it to be displayed.Ways I've killed myself in Elite:
- Boosted into an asteroid (twice)
- Boosted onto back wall of station
- Boosted onto the surface of a station (trying to turn around to face my hyperspace point, before realising (too late) I hadn't selected it and the target in my compass was, in fact, the station I'd just docked with
- Boosted into a Type 9 coming through the letterbox (twice)
- Boosted into an Anaconda that was preparing to dock and had its underside (totally unlit) perfectly aligned with the letterbox
- Killed in combat with an NPC (exactly once, an Anaconda that knocked out my engines)
I am my own worst enemy with my impatience.

I set mine up last night too. I don't use the mouse at all for ED but I noticed that I can't use the headlook function (assigned to the right stick on my XB360 controller) when I have FaceTrackNoIR running. I guess it might clash with the head tracking though, but not sure why your mouse control stops working.after seeing the post about the Facetracknoir yesterday, I decided I'd give it ago last night.. downloaded the files and followed the Youtube vid in order to get it set up. I'll have to play some more with NoIR because I found it a bit erratic. Was also prone to "wandering" while I was holding near-as-dammit perfectly still. I do have an old TrackIR somewhere, I might dig that out and see if it's any better.
So I decided to have a go at a conflict zone last night. As far as I could see, all the ships were "System Defence" or similar, like where you'd see the pilot or CMDR name normally, yet they were shooting at each other. I ended up just picking a Cobra MkIII to shoot at, then about half the contacts on the scanner turned red. What's up with that? And do you just rock up to a conflict zone and select a faction to shoot at or should I do something else first?
As it happened, I got my backside handed to me but I'm in a backer's special Eagle with only a couple of extras so rebuy costs are about 400cr.

I'm not sure how you tell which ships relate to which faction. The last one I was in had Empire fighting against some independents so you had ships like Imperial Fighter and System Defence, but those names didn't match the names of the factions. I wanted to fight for Empire though, so when empire turned red after I picked a faction I jumped out and in again and chose the other faction instead. I assume there is a proper way to do it but not sure what. In hindsight now that I think on it, it's possible that the details are listed on the contact in that screen (bit like how you have to go to that screen after warrant scanning someone to see bounties). As it happened, I got my backside handed to me but I'm in a backer's special Eagle with only a couple of extras so rebuy costs are about 400cr.

I agree with this - just gave a combat zone a go and I'm pretty sure I winged a few "greens" without any problems. But, combat zones are really hard work; Cr3000 for taking out an Anaconda (largely unassisted) just doesn't make the risk of hull damage in an Asp worthwhile. I've decided to farm a RES in Empire space for a while but finding one that isn't completely dark (where asteroids are hard to spot) is proving tricky.
You guys selling the lvl 6 cargo to get lvl 6 shelds and suffer the smaller cargo holds in the Asp?
edit
Is Thrud missing systems that arent on the other trading site? I can add data if you want or should I not include them to stop more people finding the trade route
Dam ganked by 1st cmdr tigga, took my shields down + 25% health from long distance in 1 shot and took rest of health v easy! tried boasting away from interdiction no luck! grrr cargo of Palladium also

Ah ok, thanks - I'll try that later on. I had another go last night, different zone in a different system, both sides appeared to be called "System Defence" something or other, just picked a ship I thought I could defeat and started firing. I noticed though that while some of the ships did turn red on scanner, the others stayed orange. I'll try that faction select function later on, cheers.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
