Think I just had one of my best ever games;

I was quite pleased with this one yesterday:

It came down to me and the SU-152, vs 7. I'd killed the M18 and the JagdPzIV previously, the SU had a kill on the M6 as well as something else.
I finished off the T29 just before he could finish the SU(58 hp left!), they started capping so we went back to base.
I found the JagdPanther en route, so I 2 shot him, before getting to base and finding the E8 conveniently stopped in the open; one shot what was left of him, before going in to confront the 3601 - 2 shots on him before the SU finished him off. IS appears, gets hit by me twice before the SU got the last of him.
At this point, I go high to their base, with the SU plodding along lower. I get tracked by one of the arties at close range, but am still lined up, so polish him off as the other arty starts to cap.
Back to base again, the SU is closer so gets there first, and gets shot for his pains, just as the timer hits 100, and "Defeat - Base captured" appears at the top. Arse.

Having just killed the SU at a range of about 3 microns, he backs off a fraction in order to turn, helpfully exposing the last foot or so of his hull - I've been stopped and zeroed in as there wasn't a chance I'd get there in time, so take this kind opportunity to kill him from 300 yards and win the game after we'd lost.

They must have been irritated.

Speaking of the M18, has anyone decent had a go with the M18 Hellcat? Is it any good in WoT?

It's the reason I started down the USA TD line because it was such a monster tank in real life. OK so the armour's a bit thin, but 60 mph, after all this IS Pistonheads. arf arf

But seriously the stock gun is the same as I have on my M8A1 now and regularly one shotting stuff.

I'm enjoying mine (when I get time to play....) but I do die a lot. Turret on a TD is helpful and still seems to catch people out a bit.

But I did enjoy the game in my Obj704 more the other night when I managed to turn certain defeat into a tight victory by protecting the base after one whole side of our defense had crumbled. Don't think the Hellcat would have managed quite the same trick, even allowing for tier balance.

Heh, the thing with that gun is that I look at it, then realise that my T-34's 57mm is better in every way! Though I do think it could be entertaining to play, especially with the matchmaking advantage it has. How much money do you make in it?

In things like my T-34 and PzIV I'm generally between 8 and 15k profit per match.
15k in a so-so game, 24k in an average game, and 45k in a good game.

Jim, that sounds like a fantastic game biggrin you must have been seriously pleased with yourself when you pulled that shot off! I've seen it happen once, I wasn't the man pulling the trigger (though I did have six kills on my slate for my first match of the day so I was very much hoping we'd pull it off!) and a lowly AMX 12t managed to cross the map a fraction too slowly to stop their solo capture. He did, however, crack off a shell almost in despair when his aiming circle must still have been four tank lengths wide and by massive fluke wiped out the captor hehe I didn't actually know until then that you can win after capture defeat!

Nice work in the Löwe too, bugeye, it's almost the points rather than the cash that surprises me now - you must be able to build a serious conversion bank with that thing.

Sold! Thanks for the info, I'll pick one up in the not-too-distant. I note that you don't have bad games hehe

ETA - It came on half price this morning! Outstanding!

Now that I've turned the crew training off it's racking up pretty quickly biggrin so much so that I've just worked out what gold actually costs as I'm using it to converting to free a lot more, about 29p per 100 gold if you're interested.

I must admit when I first got the Lowe I played it very very badly.... I was the premium noobloser now that I'm starting to get my act together with it not only does it generate vast amounts of credit and xp it's a lot of fun biggrin

What made me happiest about that game wasn't that I got five kills .. tbh that's not that impressive, it's that I did it holding a flank, pretty much on my own, that had crumbled very badly...

I'm tempted to buy a premium tank to start stockpiling XP for the eventual release of the British tanks, I'm torn between the T34 and the Lowe at the moment, which would be the better investment?

I notice there is no premium artillery.

Decided to fund the coffers of wargaming inc and purchased some gold. Decided to try out the "gold" ammo. I trained all my crew up as well to 100% I assume this wasnt a waste ?

Crew to 100% is not a waste.

Most people only use gold ammo in clan wars. I certainly carry a few on a lot of my tanks for when I come up against tough opposition in normal games. I did run my Churchill purely on gold ammo once as an experiment and it made shed loads of xp compared to normal ammo. I do know one player who has used nothing but gold ammo every time he plays, when he played a lot he was one of the top players on the server.

I can't comment directly on the differences between the Lowe and the T34 as I've only got the Lowe but I get the feeling that in an average game the T34 just edges the Lowe on credit and xp earned. It really comes down to the difference in the guns both put out 1600dpm but the T34 does it in 4 shots and the Lowe takes 5 , thing is the Lowe will put those 5 shots on target from half way across the map, up close it's a different story wink

Premium arty ... yep French one 105 leFH18B2

Crew to 100% might be a bit of a waste at lower tiers where you might not stay in that tank for very long, but you can retrain them to 90% for free when you move them to another tank which is usefull. I just did that with the crew of the premium tier3 you get at the end of the training.

Relieved, to be honest, what with it being the first game of the day, and my best of the evening. I reckon I could have waited at least a quarter of a second more to fire before the game ended - the 'extend' timer for a kill or hit seems to be about 5 seconds.

I got 80xp more for the yesterdays double, which was another snatching victory from the jaws of defeat mini epic; 4 (M26, KV-13, can't remember the others) vs 2 (myself + T4 arty). Fortunately I'd been slapping all 4 of the remaining enemy repeatedly whenever they'd been spotted previously, except the KV-13, so was able to knock out 2 quickly(though the arty knocked off the last 5hp off one while he was on fire, not that I minded, every little helps), then wait for them to try to capture. Snapshot the last of the M26, went head to head with the KV-13 while he tried to cap, job done, 4 kills that should have been 7 apart from the afore mentioned arty and the 'last few hp syndrome' for the others.

The T25 is pretty much my favourite tank of the moment(ok, it's a TD), as, with the exception of T9 and T10 heavy matches, you have a chance to make a difference without games costing the earth.

You obviously get games where the random number generator throws up gibberish (bouncing off an M18 with nearly 200mm penetration? First round hit gets the gun? My colon), but those aside, it's fun.

T9 TANKS ON OFFER!!!

Check the site. T9 TDs and Mediums are on offer at the moment.

(Annoyingly not the E75 or M103 which I actually want.) I guess I have to decide whether to blow all my free XP on an M48 instead?
